Your Animals.

So what does everyone keep out there? Just looking for a run down of what everyone has.

Pigs for our family; chickens, ducks, turkeys, sheep - we have extras so we sell or trade some lamb. I don't care for goats because they push the fences so badly. I don't have enough time or grass for a milk cow. We've also had quail and geese, but not right now. Next spring we would like to get a bottle-calf for veal. Oh, and a couple "barn" cats and 2 indoor cats. And 3 grandkids. They're definitely animals at times.

Well, after reading every one else's, I forgot the rabbits, and I hear the emu are coming back to live with us, after being at a friend's.

In the past we've had Angus cows, horses, sheep, and bees. We've always had dogs and cats in our 36 years together (as of last Tuesday). Right now we have 4 Great Pyrenees, 1 German shepherd, 3 cats, a Buff Orpington roo and hen, 2 Barred Rock hens, a Production red hen, and 15 Nubian goats. Some are going to freezer camp soon. I'd like to get bees again.

I don't want to even think about the wild critters in our area. That's why we have big dogs.

5 Katahdin ewes (probably at least 2 too many)
2 Katahdin rams (one will be in the freezer this fall)
3 Nubian does
1 Nubian/Boer doe
1 Nubian buck
2 Nubian wethers (1 for the freezer, 1 is a pet!)
half a dozen hens (red meat type, but they lay pretty well)
couple of roosters
two turkeys (Thanksgiving and Christmas)
I will be getting my Dexter cow and her (sex unknown) calf back next weekend, along with a dairy-cross steer for finishing.
In a few weeks I will be getting a couple of piglets to raise for my freezer.
I have 4 LGDs to keep them all safe

We only have 3.5 acres so obviously we don't have enough land to pasture-only everyone, though the sheep are mostly pasture raised, and fed hay in winter. The cow and steer get more hay than grass.

2 dogs; lab mixes
2 barn cats
23 chickens; Ameracauna and Golden Lace Wyandotte
4 cows, 4 heifers, 1 bull; Tarentaise
3 Angus X Tarentaise calves

Used to have 2 horses but they got old (27 and 29) and died on me over the last couple years. I'll get more when the right ones come along.

Feeder pigs from time to time.
