Losing the light, and Super Harvest Moon

We are just past that time where there is 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness. While I know that this happens gradually, it sure seems to sneak up on me each year. Seems like all of the sudden it gets dark much sooner and cuts down on the time to get outside projects done around the place. I've been seriously considering getting a portable light tower so I can continue working after dark as I don't have the luxury of just working the daylight hours.

How do you adjust with regards to chores and projects around the place as the daylight time grows shorter?

Also, did anyone happen to see the Super Harvest Moon last night? Has not happened in 20 years.

We went out and looked at it last night. It is funny how one day you just seem to notice hey it's getting dark an hour earlier now! Fortunately it coincides with cooler weather here so we are able to work more during the day and we aren't so dependent on cooler, longer evening hours. That works out for us.

too many clouds here to get a good look. BUT, the clouds have been thin enough during the night that the darkness is only like twilight--the moon is still very bright through the clouds.

I never realized how bright the full moon (and nearly full moon) are on a clear night till I moved here away form city lights(there aren't any), you sure can see perfectly well! no need for a flashlight. When there is snow on the ground it's even brighter. I love going out in the yard and seeing my moonshadow.

It's kinda funny, my husband is from California where the times of sunrise/sunset don't change as much. He has never gotten over how in summer there is still light at 10pm, and the sun gets up 4:30(and the birds start up 3;30 am...). THen he moans about going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark in winter

daylight savings will change soon too.

tasks--I guess you have to delegate stuff that takes a lot of light and attention(cutting wood), and stuff that doesn't(like stacking wood, you could use a headlamp)--just what you wanted, more organization!! but for the PNW, dark is not the deal, it's working around the RAIN! (soft ground...)
