Have u used Jack LaLanne juicer?
It was $8.99+tax at the Goodwill, and looks L/N. No instructions. Anybody own one of these? How does it work? And does it work WELL? Could I make fruit juice suitable for jelly? It's returnable w/in a week for store credit, which is fine w/me. Thanks, Sue

I don't have one, but you can get a pdf of the instructions on his website for the juicer. Just "google" the juicer and it'll give you the link.

I have one, works well, pretty easy to clean.
I juiced elderberries and made elderberry jelly. Turned out great.

Did it have the "tool" to take the "grater/cutter" Off? The tool looks like a piece of plastic a few inches long with 2 steel pins on each end. If it does not have the "Tool" you will have to come up with one or a way to take the cutter out to clean the machine. This Machine Is Great for the jucing I do, but I have never made jelly.

Yes, I have the more expensive JLL juicer. Use it almost every day mostly to make carrot juice. Drinking a glass of fresh juice every day since I bought it a few weeks ago has made a big difference in my energy level -- for the better. The point about the "tool" is very apt. Don't worry about not having the instruction books. Not much to them and nothing you couldn't figure out for yourself. But while you were writing this question, I bet the juicer is long gone! At least at our Goodwills hereabouts you gotta grab it when you can get it or else it's gone.

I have one. I use it frequently during canning season. I have to have mine put together just right for it to turn on. Is the bucket there that slips under the strainer piece (big shoot that comes off the side rather than the spout where the juice comes out).that catches the seeds and peels. If that bucket isn't there I am not sure you will be able to use it without a huge mess.
I found that mine doesn't juice berries very well such as raspberries. I run the seeds and pulp through twice to get more juice out.
I start out with mine 'on' then start adding stuff into it. It does tomatoes very well, but is geared more towards juice than sauce...LOL!!!

I have one and used it to juice literally bushels of apples. I ordered a replacement blade when the original dulled. It leaves the pulp a bit wet and uses a lot of carrots to make a glass of juice but for the price it is a good machine.

It has the bin for peels, and there is a red plastic gizmo inside which I think must be the removal tool. So sounds good so far. I'll check their site tomorrow for info. And Nav., I bought the thing, brought it home, THEN posted the question Sue

A juicer? Didn't know you could get one for such a small amount. How would it compare with a VitaMix? (I have been trying to find a good "juicer" and have no real idea what to look for.)

Someone gave me one as a gift. I juiced peaches in it and then made jelly. Worked nicely. Wish I could have done my elderberries in it as it would have been so much easier.
Do be careful what you put in it because it can't do everything. Better download the instruction manual. Off the top of my head I remember that bananas and avacados are a no no as there is not enough juice in them.
I did try adding parlsey to my carrot juice. It shot the whole batch of parley into the waste recepticle. Didn't like it at all.
The only thing I don't like about it is the pulp gets everywhere on the inside of the machine. Lots to clean up IMO.

Motdaugrnds, "How would it compare with a VitaMix?". It really doesn't compare. I have a Vita Mix AND the jll juicer. The vm does many things very well but it's basically a really good blender-mixer. Everything you put in the container stays there. The jll and other juicers extract the juice and eject the pulp into a separate container. The pulp can be mixed into muffins or otherwise used in cooking. I generally just give it to my chickens. What they don't eat they scratch into the ground where it composts quickly.
Some people have a separate extra vita mix container where they blend up banana and avocado peels and so forth into a kind of slurry for feading their earthworms or making a fast degrading compost. I'm glad I have BOTH machines. They sit together on my counter. I use one or both every day.

An important thing to know is do not overtighten, that is how I broke one that someone gave me. He didn't use it so gave it to me. A year later he asked for is back if I wasn't using it and I told him that is was in our home in another state because I felt horrible for breaking it.

Oh, gee, with all the research questions and compiling of information spreadsheets on here by the Nomads and Sirdudian faction, I didn't know there was a retroactive query faction, also! My error! I thought I was the only one who leaped, then looked!
By the way, there was another thread on juicers here maybe in the recipe section. I remeber a lot of complaints about the jll juicer some justified. There is a learning curve. I accidentally left the spout up and that resulted in juice all over floor and counter because it pooled inside until I was wondering oh dud where could it be? ...... Splat. Ooops expletives deleted.

I both the vitamix and the jl juicer also. I use them both for different things. I think the JL makes better carrot juice as the consistency is more like juice. I tried it in the Vitamix and it was too thick.

I have Vita-Mix as well as an Omega juicer. Juice made in the Vita-Mix is quite thick (contains all of the pulp), is probably healthier, but is just a little too thick for my taste. Juice from the Omega juicer is amazing. I try to find ways to use the pulp as nutrients can be different. My favorite way to use mixed pulp is in meatloaf! Great flavor.

That helps me understand much better. Now I'm on the look for an "Omega" juicer. Thanks Marilyn

We bought the JL juicer after watching a t.v. add and payed close to $100. for it. We got it and tried it out and the darn thing kept tripping a built in safety switch if we put too much in it. We took it to my wife's mom to compare with theirs and theirs worked circles around ours. Ours kept tripping and we wouldn't do anything more then what Mother-in-law would do in hers which is a JL juicer also. So we packed it up and was getting ready to send it back and have them send us a new one. But before we could get it sent back I found a brand new one still in the box at a Estate auction and I bought it for "$20 dollars and it works great. So we just sent ours back and got a full refund.

There must be more than one model of the JLL juicer. I must have bought the cadillac model because I spent a lot more than what ya'll are talking about. I bought mine the last time I was in Mexico. Produce is dirt cheap in Mexico so I soothed my conscience about spending so much on the juicer thinking about how cheap the veggies are. I LOVE mine! Only problem is that produce in the store here in the US is so expensive that I don't juice very often now. I miss Mexico.....sigh.

We dont juice store bought veggies and fruits very often either. It takes a lot to make a glass full.
