What is your farm bike?

First, an introduction. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, then relocated a few years ago to Gresham, Or. My wife was born and raised in Norman Ar. (pop 400). While I have no real roots here, and only my mother back in Southern California. My wife has most of her large family including 4 adult children and 6 grandchildren back in the Hot Springs area. That includes her father, a retired mule logger still living on the 10 acre homestead in Norman.
We are selling the house here and moving to Norman (we already purchased a single wide on a corner of Dad’s property) and will then use the proceeds from this sale to buy our dream – 10+ acres with house well etc. to live life rather than just dreaming about it. Since she grew up there, she pretty much knows everyone in the area. Hence our handle, “donewithcity”.
I have collected and restored a number of old Honda trail bikes and am going to bring them all back there with us. I was wondering if anyone else uses these almost indestructible bikes on their homesteads. Pictures if you have them.

I don't have any little Honda trail bikes but I do remember when there were a few farmers using beat up dirt bikes to round up cattle and to check on fields. Now all the farmers I know use ATVs because they can carry a bit more. When I was in my teens there was a farmer I worked for who would carry a sack of feed on his 70s something Kawasaki from his farm to the rented land for the heifers. There were FatCat cycles that could carry a bit more weight than a dirtbike but I never remember them being popular amongst farmers.

Me, I use a Lifan GY-5 to pull a sled around full of stuff on the property. It has a basket on the back too that can carry stuff as well. When I go riding late in October in the forest I'll usually strap a bunch of wood I come across on the back of the bike to burn in my wood stove.

I took that picture while coming back from work. As of right now my motorcycle really needs a back tire and a new chain.

Honda 250, Silverwing and Goldwing were the only motorcycles I owned, none motorbikes. Still have the Silverwing but the others have been gone quite awhile.

Welcome to the forums.

I did not mention Fat Boy

Not exactly a little trail bike but a great way to drive to town when the weather is nice.

We had a really great Rupp with the widest tires you've ever seen. Always wanted a Rokon; maybe someday! This is my best farm bike:

the kids around her use them for just about anything. All the roads are dirt and gravel. The other day a kid plowed up the road for about ten yards. He didn't do it on purpose but he did a good ten yards face first. He hit a rock and it flipped he was doing around 40 at the time. I stopped and picked him up and put some bandages on him and let him go to the next place on the map.

Not a farm bike, but here's mine. I've been "off road" on it a couple of times but not on purpose! We are looking for an ATV though.

Have a lot of fun on this old XR250r. It's got a fresh 280 kit in it and runs real strong.

I ride a Yamaha TTR125 around the farm and to get from BaDland, to a piece of land we own 5 miles away. DH rides a Honda CR 150 dirt bike. We both ride mountain bikes also. They are all great for the gravel roads around us. We also ride big bikes, mine a Honda VTR 250 while DH likes his SR 500 Thumpers. Oh, almost forgot the scooters, a Honda Elite 50 with a swapped out 87cc motor that will hit 60mph and a Zuma 50cc that we ride for fun.

I also have a vintage Japanese two stroke 50cc dual sport that I would like to get running for the farm. It's a great little bike that at the moment is in bad need of an electrical system before it is street worthy.

Our big passion, however is for road bicycles and recumbent bicycles and the list is too long to mention there.

Love those old Honda Trail 70's with the fold down handlebars. Got one in the shed that I will eventually restore for the kids. Needs a ring kit or a bore kit to get the compression back to what it should be. Are the slightly larger bikes 90 or 110 CC. I don't remember a lot of difference in the frames, and they had both size engines in that style of frame. I used a 90 CC in a go kart after a fire burned the shed it was in. The bike was destroyed, but that 90 CC motor really made a great go cart.
I also have a Yamaha YZ250 and a Honda Shadow (750) Aero for trips around town. It gets great mileage (averages around 60 MPG) and if I could ride it all year I would.

Actually I think that picture is taken in Western Iowa. That highway and county name are consistent with the county that has Council Bluffs as it's main population center.

It's fun to see everyone's bike pics.

Hooligan, I love the Triumph! I always wanted one with a sidehack like the Two Fat Ladies from the cooking show but husband says we have too many motorcycles!
