need info on Amish cheese & butter wholesale

I am hoping to expand my small farm store by moving into a larger building here. I have already talked with all the appropriate state authorities and now I'm needing a good wholesale supplier of Amish butter ad Amish goat cheese.

I've contacted four or five places on the Internet but I was wondering if any of you had personal experience with any of the wholesalers and could pass along any info or ideas.

I will of course continue to sell my own homemade goat milk soap, "fresh eggs from happy chickens, jellies, quilts, dried herbs, etc. but I can't legally sell goat cheese or butter that I make because of Alabama laws unless I am a certified dairy....and I don't have the money to qualifyfor that....so that's why I'm seeking the Amish products because my customers ask for butter and cheese all the time.

Any help or info will be greatly appreciated!

I don't know of any dairy that makes dairy products solely out of Amish milk and I live in the middle of Amish country and pick up their milk. The plant I haul into takes the milk and sells it to a cheese making plant in Zumbrota Mn. You are not going to find any Old Order Amish owned, operated, and ran dairy plants. About 8 years ago there were a couple of small can intakes that made cheese solely from Amish grade B can milk but none that made Amish goat milk. There is one plant I am aware of that picks up goats milk from the Amish down in Tomah (in milk cans) but that is not solely Amish since there are some other small non-Amish producers that ship to there as well. As far as butter goes I think you might be out of luck on that one.

Contact these people and see if a distibutor visits your area. Good cheese, roll butter and it used to be that their milk suppliers vowed to not use hormones in the cows.

Hope that helps.
