US Silver Coins

Anyone selling or buying US silver coins? My Mom has some that she is thinking about selling. Most of it is dated in the 40s and 50s with some in the 60s. I see that with silver at $18/oz 'junk silver' melt value is 13x face value. I would think the older coins are worth somewhat more but would require sorting, grading, cataloging, and marketing. Where in your opinion is the best place to sell-or what are your experiences with buying/selling? I would buy them myself as they could be invaluable in the future but extra cash is short. TTT

Definately they will have numeristic value for their older dates. I'd take them to a coin collector's shop and get them appraised. I'm sure they're worth much more than their weight in silver.

Granted, some of the older (and not so old as well), have higer values than melt value. try www.pcgs.com/prices , a free look up, but note...the prices for the free service is for very good condition and above, and the value listed is generally much higher than the standard coin that has seen a bunch of wear and tear. Despite the conditions, some are worth selling individually.
If you gotta list, post it in the barter and trade section. Seen coins there a few times.
