any thoughts about an early winter?

where we live when we start seeing/smelling skunks we know spring is just around the corner and weight restrictions will be on....well, we've been seeing/smelling many many skunks for the past couple weeks...could this be a sign of an early winter?

I don't know about skunks, but I noticed today that the starlings are flocking up. I usually don't see that here until mid-late August.

Since 2/3 of my garden yield has been from my air conditioned greenhouse this season due to it either being too wet and cool or too dry and hot and I have my winter stores up, come on winter. Maybe next season will be better.

The robins and red winged blackbirds have pretty much disappeared. The locusts have been making noise for a few weeks. The birds are flocking. The corn is turning yellow. My husband says we have been a month ahead of schedule for awhile now.

Same here, I have seen trees turning too which is what happened last year. We got hit with an earlier and harder winter. Hadn't really noticed bird behavior. We call this skunk season because there are so many hit on the road around this time.

I hope so...

the grasshoppers have ate all the garden, many fruits and new trees...had enough! The grasshoppers ate a peach off the tree and left the pit...that's how bad they are.

We are just starting our summer, long ways until winter. We haven't had that many 100+ days yet. Looking forward to a few this coming week.

NOAA is predicting a La Nina Winter this year. Those tend to be pretty mild for us.

We haven't had much summer yet -- so I hope not. Spring came bout a month early here this year, and decided to stay. It hasn't left yet. We've had rain, rain, rain!

My friend said the Farmers Almanac predicted warm weather for us through October. I am hoping to be able to do another planting. I hope winter holds off this year.

We've had a pretty cool summer so far so I figure it will drag the summer out for us. I think it's gonna be a hot Halloween here!
