Quick! What have you used utility poles for?

Leccy man just stopped by and they are going to be replacing the pole that's in our back yard today or tomorrow.

He asked me if I want to keep the pole. Well, of course I do, but I have no idea for what yet. They will cut it into lengths for me and I'm trying to decide what length?

Excellent for corner posts or leave it full length to mount a yard light on.

Just tell him to leave it whole, you can cut it later if you need to. Once it`s cut you can`t glue it back . >Thanks marc

Gate posts, I have used them to make a "pole" shed, parkling bumpers. If I had more I'd probably have found more uses.

Between my blown elbows from horseshoeing and my hubbies physical limitations having it in manageable lengths already would be really helpful to us.

Fence and mailbox posts is what they are usually use for around here but I have seen a couple that were used to make a swingset frame. Don't know if I would want that. I've also seen them used instead of landscape timbers to frame driveways and walks.

I used them for fence posts in lots, corners and such, pole barns, makes on heck of tie rail for horses, my former home, when my dad added on a room, he dug post holes and used short lengths for foundation blocks, when house burned they burned right down into the ground too. Parking blocks are good for trucks not low slung autos. Heavy duty edging for walks and drives. Short lengths in post holes, with 2 x's make pretty substantial benches.

We use ours as gate posts and leave them really tall...we have a sign between them with the name of the farm on it. Also used as pole barn supports....we actually have a few laying around we havent used yet.Oh and cut in 3 sections used as a base for a tree fort.

well if you have a long enough pole have it cut into 4 8' lengths..other wise 4 of the longest lengths you can get..

i used a pole to make an arbor in my back garden..4 8' long posts with 4x4's as cross pieces side to side..and 2x4's for cross pieces between, lattice on top and side (just put on last week so my older photos show it without lattice)..sturdy to hold a swing

i have also used them for clothes lines..grape arbors..they make wonderful long bridges as they won't rot..

i have 3 right now and have an order into my son to cut 8' lengths for a new arbor as i want to move my swing farther back in the garden but keep the first arbor there..so i'll have 2...i also have a martin house up on top of one by my pond
