Kubota L2350 Question

I have an opportunity to purchase a Kubota tractor for $14,000. I can not find any recent purchases on eBay. Is this a good deal?
1996 L2350 4x4
275 hours
Loader
Brush Hog
Back Hoe Attachment

What do you guys think?

Have you sat in it, started it, tried all the features? Has it got its maintenance log up to date? Guess it all depends on what kind of condition it's in and how many hours you work to get 14 grand together...lots of variables.

It is from a neighbor. I have used it a few times and it is well maintained.

Gear or hydro?

Have you checked againts Kubota's website againts a new equivilant? Keep in mind the prices on the website are probably 15% higher than from a dealer.

On edit--didn't see the backhoe portion. I would say that is a decent deal; what is the horsepower?

Really depends on how much acerage you have. I think a little tractor like that would be the cats behind on 5-7 acres or less. I would want gear if your gonna do a lot of mowing. Hydro or gear with a shuttle if you plan on using the FEL alot. Hydro with "cruise control" would be the best of both worlds (but I don't think they had cruise control when this tractor was made).

Those are nice tractors and those are seriously low hours for a 14 year old machine but 14K seems a bit high even with all the attachments (at least for down here).

I agree with Salmonslayer, its low hours but high for a 14 year old model. In North Alabama, last year you could buy a new Kubota, 25 or 27 horsepower, I forget which is the rating with a Bush Hog Brand loader and a 5 foot rotary cutter for $15,000. But the back hoe attachments are pricey. Low hour used tractors could be found for 8-9,000.

Tractor market prices seem to vary across the country, but I would agree with the above posters that it would be a little high in price for our area.

Here are some links from various Craigs' List postings accross the country:

http://fortsmith.craigslist.org/grd/1839615132.html

http://mobile.craigslist.org/grd/1786309485.html

http://carbondale.craigslist.org/grd/1806261630.html

http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/grd/1842195006.html

Note that the loader, backhoe, and 4x4 options make the tractor you are looking more valuable than that those above. But age takes it's toll on all tractors, especially the hoses, tires, belts, and gaskets. The engine and other drive components on a Kubota will usually outlive the owner.

Just a suggestion: If it would not offend your neighbor, maybe offer $12K and meet somewhere in the middle.

Good luck.

I dont know if it is that overpriced

low hours is worth something
good maintenance is worth alot
Front end loader is worth quite a bit of $
4 wheel drive is worth quite a bit $
Backhoe is worth alot of $$$
