Salt pools vs Chlorine pools

I am thinking about putting a pool in. I would like to hear your thoughts on Salt pools vs Chlorine pools.

If, someone on here owns one (Salt pool) I'd like to know what you think of it.

Thanks,

Dora

I don't know about salt pools, but my mother has a Baquacil pool system. I think it is an oxygen based system. I like it. No smell, no burn etc.. they have used it for years.

The only difference is salt pools make chlorine in the water, still chlorine system, plus it corrodes everything.

Buy a Nature 2 Sanitizer, I'd have to ask the hubby but think you can keep chlorine level down to .5 and then use shock. It's cheap too.

My neighbor in FL converted over to a salt water system and absolutely loves it. Between that and the Aquajet cleaner he is in heaven.

My mom had a chlorine one and now has a salt water one and loves it. I like swimming in it better because chlorine makes my hair turn green.

We've been doing salt for 3 seasons now, best thing we ever did, plus it's cheaper to operate.

Had some friends that had a salt pool, it was like swiming in the ocean every time we went over. If I ever get a pool, it will be salt, not chlorine.

I've never been in one, but the high end country club in town has a saltwater pool. Also know a guy who tried to convert his indoor chlorine pool and the salt corroded everything, including the windows and hinges right off the doors!

Any one know exactly how much salt it takes? It must be a ton...

My brother put in a salt water pool -- they're a lot less work. When I visited there last summer, I spent a LOT of time in it, and I didn't get the yucky feeling I get after hours in the chlorinated pools.

If we ever put one in, it will be a salt water pool.
