Info on Vermont Castings Resolute

I am looking at buying this...

http://charlotte.craigslist.org/atq/1824474147.html

Just wanted to see if anyone had one and what they thought about them. We have 1500 sq feet in Zone 7A (fairly well insulated with double pane windows). I would like to heat 100% with the stove. I am currently using a Fisher Baby Bear which keeps it around 65 in the winter, but we ended up using around 75 gallons of propane last winter with the thermo set at 60(mostly in the early mornings before I had reloaded the stove). Will the Resolute hold a fire a solid 8 hours and what size wood will it accept? Any problems with warpage, ect? I have read the reviews on Hearth.com but didn't get exactly what I was looking for.

Thank you.

I've got a VC Defiant Encore, looks similar. It does pretty well and if you turn it down it will easily hold fire over night. I cut my wood 16" and like it split small as my stove loads from the top. We like to be warm and the gas back up stays set in the high 60's so we do have the heat come on at times.

I also believe this is a non-cat stove. If anyone knows different please let me know...

Matthew,

We have had the same stove for 24 years. Ours has a Thermolux ( I think ! ) paint job that needs touch-up, but that's the only problem. Our house is 1,600 sf, super insulated, in Southern Vermont. It heats right up, and quickly. The stove fits 18" logs and 24" ones if you stand them up. It was positioned to heat the main living area and upstairs rooms. We have a fan that can pump warm air to two lower level rooms, but never need to use it. We have electric baseboard back up for when the stove is too much trouble.

It's not catalytic. I liked ours okay, but love our soapstone.

Our house is 1800 sq. ft. and laid out so that it was hard to heat the whole thing with the Resolute. (farmhouse, insulated, new windows).

Picked up the Resolute this morning. Is it supposed to heve fire brick in it?

I'll follow up this winter!
