How did it fail? It's not the best tasting tea out there.

I let it steep for 20 minutes, and it still tasted like plain water. lol

What part of the dandelion are you using and how much? By tea steeper, do you mean one of those mesh balls or some other new device of which I'm not aware? 20 minutes should have given some nicely bitter tea!

I thought it would have been too!!! lol But nope, no flavor at all!!!

I used the top yellow flowers, about 6-10, in a cup of water. This is the type of steeper I have:

Interesting contraption! I've never actually made tea from the flowers, I usually eat them in other ways. Was the water nicely colored? And how did it smell? My guess would be either you need more flowers since they are the mildest part of the plant (especially if you took the green parts off) or try another part of the plant. You could also put on other flavorings so as to hopefully get the benefits of the dandelion with a little flavoring.

Know a bit about dandelion blossom wine, and I have used the greens in wilted salad (in the spring before the leaves get bitter), but I don't know anything about dandelion tea.

A homeopath told me to use the roots for making tea -- not the flowers. It tastes terrible, but is really good for cleansing the liver and blood. It should be done once a month.

An SCA member told me that dandelion wine can taste a lot like mead.

Roots and leaves are used medicinally. I think the flowers have some good qualities as well, not as much, but then they aren't as bitter. I can't stand dandelion tea, so find other ways to eat the stuff as it is so very good for you. Now that I live where there are dandelions again, I'd like to try dandelion wine, just for the heck of it.
