A friend of mind is in RV sales, and when I mentioned these, he said to leave them along, but if this thing is "never used", that might not be a bad price. The one's I asked about were not all that well built. But it's hard to find much for $6500 these days.
I shoot an email to my friend and see what he says. It may take a little bit of time for him to get back to me, he's not too much into computers or email. LOL

Most every thing that FEMA has is the lowest cost and are park trailers(no holding tank and water). You can buy one for less but you will have to go to Hope Arkansas and buy from them their and pull it to where you want it. Is it worth that much yes if that is what you want. The trailers are at least 3 or 4 years old and some of them are in bad shape.

I would say it depends upon the size of the unit. I looked at a lot of regular travel trailer repos last year in the $10,000 dollar range. Many were brand new and repoed from dealer lots when they couldn't pay up. Many were a year or two old.
Remember too that there were a lot of interior environmental issues due to outgassing of components.

by the way, do you know a year and how many feet this trailer is?
Is it a 5 year old "never used" or last year's model?

Remember, it was some of the FEMA trailers that had the high formaldehyde levels. No idea if this is one of them or not. I believe FEMA has information on their web site to help you figure out of which ones of theirs were really bad. When they auctioned them off, they warned that all of them were non-habitable.

As for the formaldehyde level, let it air out. If it hasn't outgassed already, give it a chance.
Here is the GSA website. There are a few FEMA trailers still for sale here.

All of the trailers were on the market to regular dealers. I doubt that any were built for FEMA. They are the ones that you can buy 3 or 4 years ago at a regular dealer. The thing is they are closed up and have not had the time to air out Just like the ones that are not sold to a dealer.

What people don't understand, all trailers and RV's that are made have high formaldehyde. The difference is the dealers let them air out to off gas the formaldehyde. I use to deliver them from the manuf. to the dealers. Some of them were so bad they would burn your eyes. When these FEMA trailers were delivered most of them were occupied immediately and lived in with air conditioners and never allowed to air so of course the formaldehyde was very strong.
My husband has delivered the FEMA trailers back when Andrew came through. The only difference in them and the ones the dealers sold were they didn't have decals on them.
BRP, I think if that trailer hasn't been lived in that is a good price. They are made cheap but if you take care of it, and if something goes wrong fix it asap and it will last quite a while. The one you are talking about sounds like a park model. They are made to hook up to septic and water, hence, no holding tanks.

From what I have read,FEMA trailers were sold at auctions for around $500-$1000 each...
No tanks, house type fridge and range and normally no decals.
Most seem to be 32' long with a slide, bedroom up front and bunks in the rear.
If you didn't need the holding tanks then it is a good way to have a place to live.
I wouldn't pay that much for one.

Before some of you decide to go and bid on one They are only sold to dealers so unless you are a used car dealer or camper dealer you can't buy one.

Old vet, I believe you are mistaken. Originally they were only sold to dealers, but I posted a link to the GSA auction site above. Anyone with the money can now buy one.

If you're wanting a travel trailer do NOT buy a FEMA trailer. They are not designed to be towed regularly. They are designed to be pulled somewhere, set up and left for a long time. They will fall apart very quickly when they're towed on a regular basis.
If you have a piece of property you want to set up a cheap living space on to go to when you want, they're okay for that.

The lots around Little Rock have them running $3500-$5500. Brand new Cavaliers are running right around $4000. I think $6500 is overpriced if you have the ability to tow one up from Little Rock and save $2000. I have walked through a lot of them and they have several brand new ones. We were thinking about one for a lot on Greers Ferry.

Ok we kicked it around was thinking of it instead of building on to our Cabin at the Lake.Decided if we built on we could do it little at a time and be more solid.

A friend was looking at some of these FEMA trailers. He planned to buy and place several of them on land he owned to be used as rental units.
He said a lot of them were among the dirtiest, nastiest places he had ever been in, most had an overpowering stench, and were not fit to keep hogs in.
Furnishings, and appliances mostly wrecked or missing, dirty, torn up floor coverings, holes in walls, cabinets torn off of the walls, windows broken, screens missing, exterior doors broken or missing, siding torn off, just totally destroyed. He didn't buy any, wouldn't have towed them off the lot if they had been free.
A sad testment to the lack of caring and self control by people who were desperately in need of help, and responded in this manner when given a place to live when they couldn't/wouldn't help themselves.

We checked into buying one of these. I called the manufacturers with the model number, etc. because I wanted to see the floor plans. I was told that there are no floor plans as these are made to FEMA specs and are "substandard".

I just bought a used 2005 Cavalier 32' Fema camper in Picayune, MS for $2,800. However, it was not filthy, just needs to be cleaned. I know one person who lucked out and got two new ones for $2,500 each. The one I bought has a front bedroom with a door, no carpet at all (the ones I saw with carpet were disgusting) two bunks, a narrow pantry( not all of them have a pantry), a closet next to the kitchen (not all of them have this closet either). so I'm happy with what I got.
In 2001 I purchased a 1982 Prowler 24' camper for $3,000 and it was in worse shape than the FEMA camper, but we needed on and had to take what we could get at the time.
I did see some that were in horrible condition and would not have touched them.
I happened by some other ones today that were $600 more expensive and not as nice as the one I got and none had the closet or the pantry.
