How to tell when meat chx are ready ...

Like a whistling tea pot, when the young roosters begin to crow, it's time to process

OR

When the local coyotes come in for a breakfast buffet !!!!

Even though we keep our franken-birds in a chicken tractor at night, we let them free range during the day. The first few weeks they are kept only in the tractor. They get use to being fed and watered there. They come running at night to get fed.

As they got older a few that figured out that under the porch was like a cage and they can get out earlier to go get them bugs.

Only lost one duck and one frankenchicken this morning. Paul is sleeping on the porch with the gun tonight.....
