vole control

A friend suggested attaching a hose to the lawn tractor's exhaust and putting it down the vole tunnels to kill them. My question is how can the hose be attached as it is a different size and the exhaust gets hot so duct tape would melt? Anyone tried this and was it successful in ridding the area of voles?

Get a piece of flexible exhaust hose at an auto parts store.

Our cats working hard (and having fun) clearing ours out. No tractor, no exhaust, and on good days he skips the cat food!

I use castor oil and soap in 3/4 -1/4 ratio in my tree farm and works great in a two inch trench. or in the spring mix it in a sprayer and spray the ground . our voles are seeking for the grubs that feed on the poplar trees roots in the area . the soap seems to drive off the grub. use biodegradable soap.

One method I heared was to soak paper towels in ammonia, stuff it in the hole and place a rock over it.

Have tried cats, moth balls, castor oil spray etc. Voles are vegetarian and don't eat grubs, worms etc. moles eat those. Thanks for the hint about the flexible exhause hose, I'll get some of that.

2 days ago I got tired of the little bastids pushing up mounds of dirt in my driveway.... so...
I "Borrowed" the black plastic flex hose and about a 2 foot section of the hard tube that your shop vac attachments hook to...and...
Moved my 81 V.W. Rabbit diesel pu truck next to a suitable mound, and stuffed the flex hose in the hole, and the hard tube fit snug into the tail pipe, and had a little farewell party for my underground friends. (about 10 min. run time)

Well, its been 2 days so far and no new mounds, I wonder if their still sleeping...?
Nighty night.

Voles are great pig food. Put a strand of electric around the area with the voles and turn a few pigs in there for a while.

Our cat does that for us. She also keeps out the moles, mice, and anything furry or feathery that looks like fun to toss in the air and eat.
