I held the fan while
I held the fan while Ma picked te berries. It was hot in the sun, and the mosquitoes were as thick as magots on a dead sheep. I got the window fan, and set it on a bench close to my Sugar Doodle while she picked the berries. I did move it as she moved down the rows. It was the nicest thing I'd done for her all day. The wind kept the mosquitoes a bay and made the sun more livable for her.
Any of you homesteading ladies get such nice treatment from your dearest??
Time for shortcake now.

MAN...sure wish my hubby would do that for me! Have to admit though...he helped me pick the raspberries and I'm pretty sure he'll help me pick the dewberries and blackberries!

It sure was a hot day here in Indiana and the mosquitoes are swarming! That was a great idea to use the fan! We do not have electricity close to our berry patch but if we did, I have one of those great husbands that would do the same for me. Sounds like you two are a great team!

Hmmmm - you sat and watched your "dearest" do all the work? And you expect to be congratulated for that? :/

Uncle Will, I can tell you are the sort to always be thinking of your better half.
I bettin' you eat most of that shortcake too - that being ,of course, the kindest way to help your "Sugar Doodle" preserve her figure.

Jaclynne <> You sure hit the nail on the head. She is 73 and can outwork most anyone in the garden. She can squat down and pull weeds for hours. She has a little hoe with a broom handle in it that can put a Mantis tiller to shame. I painted all the handles in her tools bright yellow so she wouldn't have to waste time looking for them. I built her a little greenhouse on the end of her garden shed. Most commercial greenhouses don't have the number of varieties of flowers that she has. She's a good cook, and don't like to eat out. Oh yeah she's sexy too. Her best quality by far is she puts up with me. 56 years and still countin".

Uncle Will, that was a good ide'er. I don't have a berry patch yet, but the ex-wife volunteered me the other night to help move someone table from their vehicle to inside and the Skeeters got me good. So what you did was priceless to us who are Skeeter-magnets.

Well she sounds like a keeper, anyone who likes flowers is a keeper for sure.
Do you guys need any rain? I'm sure if I point my fan your direction i can push the clouds a bit south.

Nickie <> We have only been getting two or three goose drownders a day lately. Even on sunny days we get a little downpour now and then. It sure does rain easy in wet weather. On the other hand, all signs of rain fail during a drought. Too much rain is way better than not enough.
