Des Moines, Iowa?

Was told that the economy was good and jobs were plentiful in my field. I honestly don't know anything about the town. Anyone know anything about it?

Well if you are in insurance or technology I guess the job market is okay but not superb. As for Des Moines it is moderate sized has some cultural sites activities and events. West Des Moines and otherwestern suburbs are growing and eating farmland. Not as much in the last two years but quite a bit prior to that. The main thorughfare thru Des Moines proper (I235) runs primarily E-W so the commutes from the west suburbs are really slow due to the sun in your face each way. A lot of insurance jobs have moved to West Des Moines for that reason.
Winters are bitter at times and some serious snowfall also. Summers can be humid and hot but not unbearable.
All in all Iowa is a great place to locate.

My neighbors are moving there and have found housing to be very very costly compared to here in Kansas, especially those for sale. They wound up renting a small duplex until they can decide whether the job there offsets the housing prices or if they will simply return to Kansas as a last resort.

The people seem great they said.

Nice town - lots to offer. Small enough but large enough. Close enough to larger cities for even more opportunities. Education is great. Politics lean to the left. Great land but hard to find small chunks due to laws about breaking up farms. Ankeny is also a growing community.

We lived 30 miles east of DM for 13 years. Except for the ever-once-in-a-while ice storm or snow storm, it is a very, very nice place.

They are a good and seemingly stable company. They always vacation from Christmas until after New Years day. I always see them handing out nice be gift boxes at Christmas.
Not sure how many shifts they are currently running but I think only 1 or 2.

When you come in on K-96 go on north into South Hutchinson and take the first exit ramp just after you cross the bridge. Turn left at the stop sign and follow the road and it will take you right past their facility on Monroe St.

Best wishes for a successful application.
