Does anyone use motion detector lights or alarms for deer

I have some deer that want to eat all my corn up. Anyway I was thinking of running a electric cord out there and getting some cheap motion detector alarm/lights to scare them off. It's mainly at night when they come out.
What ya think?

I doubt they would even notice.

Well if you hook it to an alarm, might wake up the dogs....

Tried it. Didn't work very well, and the first big lightning bolt of the first storm saw that pole sitting in the middle of bare ground and said "Oooh! A landing spot! Just for me!!! How sweet." Wanna buy a slightly toasted motion detector?

A friend of mine said that he plugged a radio into his motion detector. I haven't tried it, but he said it worked for him.

There is a motion detector made that you hook your hose to. When critter is detected the gadgit shoots water at them.

We hung Road Kill Deer and used Timed Cannons, found Lead Poisoning worked best.

It sounds as though the deer have already aquired a taste for your corn and will bring thier friends. As rockpile said, the $.25 cure may be your only real solution.
I guess that you could put up a 8+ foot fence around the perimiter, but by then you can go buy corn cheaper.

my deer here would just look up and say...what duh???? and go ahead with what they are doing

if the corn ears are being eatin by racoons they say you can wrap them in duct tape and around the stalk..but if it is the stalks themselves..you gotta fence it to protect it..

also paper bags over already fertilized stalks will save them from racoons..sometimes

We use one of these http://www.harborfreight.com/wireles...tem-93068.html at the gate, where the deer usually come in. When it rings, either we get up and open fire with a laser sighted BB pistol, or the house dogs hear the alarm and run out the doggie door to take care of things.

Our garden was behind the barn and we had a lot of deer and raccoons.

My DH rigged up a motion detector along with a loud radio and a light! It worked just great!

I imagined that the wild life didn't like rap music!

That's what we did in the chicken house just on the other side of the greenhouse. I'm up before first light every day and I can tell when the first turkeys wake up, they turn on the radio. We only get one station here so nobody gets subjected to rap music, thank goodness.

I went to home depot, got a roll of yellow caution tape and put it around the garden on stakes about 3 foot high. It has kept the deer out for 2 years now. There is a herd of 12-13 that stay in the area.

I don't argue with what works, but that has got to be one of the funniest solutions I've encountered.
