shined up ye ole woodstove..

well..call me crazy...cause I love things looking good. lol so after a couple years of constant use, our woodstove was looking kind of puny. bought stove black, and yesterday I gave it a go. rubbed a thin coat on, let dry, buffed out.....WOW. my beloved woodstove looks BRAND NEW again! ok..it was a bit of work...but still, I'm so impressed. who says something that works hard for you all winter has to look 'used'?

wish I had taken a 'before' pic, cause it was looking like an old cast iron skillet that wasn't loved.

I've never re-blacked a stove. Is it going to fume up the room next time you use it?

I doubt it will cause a smell or smoke, as you truly buff it all off. I can rub my hand as hard as can be, and there is no residue. at worse...maybe it will 'smell' a little like when new, which means we light the first fire when it isn't frigid so a window can be open. it truly restores the finish for cast iron or steel stoves. (we have both..the steel one is in the garage), and it's nice to have the rust looking spots gone again. our only concern was not liking it 'shiney', as we love the matte finish. but...it photographs a bit more shiney than it actually is.
