cabin fever, septic tank question

I have thought about plumbing my gray water somewhere other than the septic tank, and only running my toilet into my septic tank. Will that be ok? My concern is that there wont be enough liquid for the tank to work properly.

IN cold climates like yours and mine, septic tanks really don't do much in the way of biological decomposition...it's too cold. All the tank does is allow solids to settle out, fats and oils to float, and the water to pass on thru to the drainfield. So, to answer your question, "yes" your current system will work just fine with only the toliet hooked up to it (assuming that it's working now).

If you want to be legal, check with your state or county to see if they allow graywater systems....not all do.
