I had a Scooba hard floor washer. I really liked it, but it did not get into corners well. It is round, so I guess that can be expected.
The battery would sometimes dies before all my hard floors were washed. The charging system malfunctioned way too soon. Of course, the warranty was out and it was about 2 years old. It was too expensive for that too happen so soon:>(. It was a huge time saver, though.

I clean houses for some people who have one. I have seen it move across the floor. I think it nothing more than a bad idea that has made someone a lot of money. IMHO don't waste your money. Spend your money on that high dollar prep item that you may have been wanting. Cindy

By the time I got my chairs and other small furniture off the floor, and cleaned the corners, then blocked the entrances to the other rooms etc I felt I was just as well off to just continue on with my cleaning and put it all back. Waiting for an hour to put my furniture back, then cleaning out the roomba was jsut a waste of time for me.
Mine is in my shed. an expensive toy.
My son uses his all the time though. He doesn't generally bother with trying to clean out the corners of his place every time he uses the Roomba.

I'll try to be polite here. I read somewhere on the internets that someone had one that worked on a timer, I guess. They were at work, the doggie had an accident, and the machine spent hours smearing the accident around the room.

Best Thing Since Sliced Bread
Hi,
We have four.
- Two Roombas, "------" and "Blacky"
- Scooba, for tile floors
- Dirt Dog for the shop and tile deck
We LOVE them! They are fantastic, the best. A great value. Couldn't live without them.
We have a spare battery for each type, and order a new battery when one will not vacuum or wash for over an hour or two tanks of wash-fluid for the floors.
There are various models and grades. Get the best.
We have not vacuumed or washed the floors by hand for years -- our robots do it every few days. ------ and Blacky have side brushes and do the edges and corners better than the old style vacuums. The floor washer gets the floor much cleaner than hand mopping, except the corners, which we must hand-mop.
Our floors are nearly dry by the time Scooba is finished. If they are not dry quickly your robot needs a new part. We keep repair kits for each -- you don't need any repair parts for a year or so depending on use.
The tech support and repair parts are fantastic, real, friendly, and there.
The manufacture is a serious military robot builder and these machines are incredible and not toys.
If you have any in your shed, I want them.
These robots are the future, and are hardy workhorses. Just like any machine they must be maintained.
Go get some and spend your time doing other things and have a clean house, people who clean can do things other than vacuum and mop. We love our robots.
Enjoy,
Alex

My mother has a Roomba for her hardwood floors and LOVES it! It does a pretty darned good job, especially when used regularly. Mom has some stiffness in her hands and shoulders with makes swishing a broom around very uncomfortable, and the Roomba allows her to clean her floors when she wants without having to depend on someone else. Anything that can increase a person's independence and feeling of self-sufficiency (yes, for a person who can't physically handle a broom a Roomba can be a tool for self-sufficiency ) is OK by me!

Love ours, want more.
Puddin, you can send your Roomba to me We have a Roomba and we love it. We set it to run while we are at work or in the yard. I love having clean floors without the work. DH does the cleaning/repairs needed because it is a robot after all - man's work
I want a second roomba for the upstairs and a Scooba!

The main room in our house for the Roomba to work in is the great room all 1300 Sq Ft of it. Its all tile with a couple of throw rugs - sounds perfect for a roomba and maybe a Scooba. They make a Pet Version for houses with Dog Hair - we have dog hair!!!

I forgot to mention woot.com they have roombas and scoobas pretty regularly for good prices. I check woot each morning during coffee time - they only do one item a day except woot-offs.

Have a roomba and it picks up a pretty good amount of pet fur and outside debris for something that probably doesn't have much suction. It goes under our sofa and bumps around everything meticulously. If this was my house it'd be all I would use on the carpets except the stairs.

We have the one for carpets and it cut the use of a actuall vac down by quite a bit..........it just keeps the carpet looking good longer.....I would recomend a actuall vac cleaner be run atleast every other month.
We vac about once a month give or take with a real vac to suck up the deep dust.
Hate keeping it empty ,supposedly the new ones empty out on thier own.

I have been thinking of getting those for awhile now, as we have 3 dogs that seem to be constantly shedding. Plus the paw marks on the floors that are also a constant presence especially after it rains...

The roomba I had got choked down on dog hair so fast I gave it to my super clean neighbor and contracted a part time housekeeper.
