Lawn mower recommendations?

Our lawn mower went kaput last week, so we're in the market for a new/gently used one. We don't have enough lawn to justify a riding mower, really (although our wonderful neighbor finished mowing our grass with his, taking only ten minutes!), so we need some idea of what would be a good solid push mower. Suggestions, anyone? Oh, and if anyone has words of advice on a good edger/trimmer, that would be appreciated too. Thanks!

Mary, in order for us to answer your question we need more info as per health and physical ability. As for myself, I'm retired and will NOT use a push mower any more, even on a small space. So, having a bit over 2 acres to mow I use a riding mower and then a self propelled mower for the smaller areas if needed.

Also, if a person is lacking strength in the arms or easily injured, I suggest going for an electrical start on the self propelled. Both of my mowers(as well as the wheeled weed whacker) are from Sears and I like them a lot.

That's just me but I'm in my dotage now. LOL

Dh always recommends a few sheep. cheap lawn mowing and free compost!
