Greenhouse going up, garden wrecked (pics)

Holy smokes, have we been busy. We bought a real nice greenhouse kit and finally got it assembled and on site. We went ahead and tore out all the garden fencing and beds, to add a bunch of compost and redo all the beds and deerproof fencing. Should be done in time for planting. Our last average frost date is June 15, so still have some time.

In the meantime, my little tomatoes, melons and cucumbers are loving the greenhouse. It is placed in the corner of the garden, about 20 feet from the laundry room door, so I can haul my seedlings in and out easily (plenty of space in the laundry room for them) until the nights are warmer. Also makes it fast and easy to run out to the garden from the kitchen and pick a salad. The house also provides some wind protection to the greenhouse, from our prevailing west winds.

Can't wait to get the garden put back together, it sure looks a mess at the moment.

It was windy and had some hail Saturday, so the greenhouse was assembled in dh's shop. We loaded it onto his 4 place snowmobile trailer and hauled it to its new home. It went really well. Still tweaking a few things and have dirt work and pavers to finish inside. Been saving a couple of years for this, and am so glad to finally see it happening. This is a big upgrade from the cattle panel, plastic film hoophouse I've used for the last several years. It's a Riga, designed and manufactured in Germany to withstand wind and snow loads (the German instructions and translation to English were rather amusing, not to mention most parts labeled in German). The walls are 10mm doublewall polycarbonate and the sides are 8mm. We have on average 90 frost free days, so a greenhouse makes all the difference.

Loaded up and backing into position.

Dutch door so I can open the top and leave the bottom shut and keep the dogs out, or open both together.

Large rear window and 4 roof windows with automatic openers. These things are wonderful and are working great (and require no power)

Happy seedlings.

Haven't made a decision on heating yet, exploring options. That not an egg, it my rat terrier's ball. She helps me do everything and has a large collection of balls that get left in various places to be played with when we work there again. She's always thinking ahead.

Thanks for the nice comments, everyone.

They are Bushy Cucumbers, seed from Seed Savers.

I bought the greenhouse here.

When they say they will beat a price, they mean it. I sent a link to a price that was advertised quite a bit lower and they beat it by $100 or so. Very nice to work with.

How much heat would night cages for chickens and rabbits produce?

Very nice, but some pricey...it'd take me a few years to make enough to cover the cost of that. Do they sell the poly stuff just on it's own?
