Got a good deal today!!

Stopped by a neighbors today that I go to church with and he had bought a new 250 Stihl and said that his other one was worn out and cost too much to fix it. I asked him what it was and it was an 028. I told him that I would buy it and he said he would just give it to me. I brought it home and it had goo compression and wanted to start, but did not want to run. I put in new gas and checked the breather and I don't think it has ever been cleaned. Awful. Cleaned breather and adjusted carb a litte and runs like a new one. The saw is really dirty from accumulation of oil and gas and needs cleaning. I can tell that the oiler is oiling way, way, too much. Anyone have any idea as to the problem with it doing this. Could it be an adjustment or maybe a line. Could it maybe not be bar oil in it and now bar oil? I would appreciate any suggestions on the possible problem and how to solve it one step at a time. Will have to clean it up before I can tell much. Thanks again for any help!

Ok, I don't use stihl, I have a craftsman, but here are some links:

owner's manual

old thread from another forum

If these don't help, google "stihl 028"

I would guess that anyone who doesn't know enough to clean the breather probably doesn't know enough to use the right bar and chain oil.
