Question Austin Corley???

One of the things I like best about this forum is the sense of connection with places all over this country I have never been or had connection with.
Recently, I forget where but maybe here, I read there is legislature in place to make muscovy ducks illegal. Of course, that meant I immediately wanted to get some! Kind of like drinking raw milk because it is illegal in Virginia!
Just now, I did a google search on muscovy ducks without learning why they should be banned or forbidden. BUT found a site for "adopting" them (but you can't eat them or brEed them, just use for "lawn ornaments.") If that was not strange enough, they disassociate themselves from. Austin Corley, an alleged duck and goose thief!
Now I never heard of this theft and am very curious about it. How many birds did this guy steal? (Allegedly). Why? How was he caught? What heppened to him and the birds?
Here's the quote: "Carolina Waterfowl Rescue has a large number of recent, legally rescued Muscovy in desperate need of homes! Neither Muscovy Duck Central, nor the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue condones the theft of personal property under any circumstance; nor is MDC or the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue Organization associated with Austin Corley and his alleged theft of ducks and geese in southern Florida! "

If I recall correctly, Muscovies present a danger to the native populations because their offspring in a cross-bred situation are like Mules, cannot reproduce themselves.

Thanks, I did read the well-written journalist's story about Austin Corley but I would like to know if someone on here had direct experience with this guy?

No direct experience with this guy, but in Flroida - the muscovy ducks are pests. They congregate everywhere and make a huge mess, and annoy most of the humans they come into contact with! They are nasty - maybe if there weren't so many of them, it wouldn't be so bad, but there are dozens and dozens in one place - ACK!
