Well, ...everyone done paying Uncle Sugar....
I did my federal taxes 2 months ago. However, still waiting to hear from the state of Illinois....
A good joke I heard.....
McDonalds is offering the Obama Value Meal.......
Order whatever you like and as much as you want.....and the guy behind you has to pay........
Attempting to liven things up here on this sad day....

Gonna go get mine done today. Then probably file for an extension. I don't think we'll owe any additional this year. Just wish I could do as well as some guy at work, he pays 3-5 dollars a week in income tax and gets over $2800.00 "back".

My "work credit" was 39 bucks... and Obama is encouraging the American people to please feel free to spend their credit. Nope. I am purposely taking that 39 bucks and stuffing it between my mattress. I might need it to buy some oatmeal to eat, since I'm going broke buying food for those who won't work even if they had a job handed to them.
Why, every year on this very date am I penalized for my hard work, my education, and un-Constitutionally forced to hand my money over to the government?
Work credit? I get a 39 buck credit for working????! Whoopie!!! How much is an average Welfare check? Anyone know? I wouldn't.
Yesterday I noticed a major bank offering loans without a credit check. Here we go again.
The Federal government took 18% of MY money.
I dread April the 15th.

We got ours done. I paid less in taxes this year as opposed to this year and the year before, despite making a little more in salary. Everything we overpaid in the last year is now in a savings account, waiting to buy feed, seeds, and supplies.

We made about the same money in 2009 as 2008, but this was the first time since 2002 that we haven't had to pay. For tax year 2008, we had to pay $1200+ at tax time.
Yes, I verified the return is correct (1040A)...re-did it three times just to be on the safe side, and THEN took it to my parent's accountant just to be ABSOLUTELY sure.
Needless to say, I'm floored, but happy.

We had a AGI of less than 50,000 so according to all the hubbabaloo we should get money back-nope I owe. Anyone want a business, I am getting out we would have been doing well just on DH income would have got a nice refund!

Filed my NYS taxes early Feb. Got my return this week. Big suprise as I didn't think I'd see that check for a few more months. Makes my stomach turn to think about how much I paid in state, fed & property taxes last year. Won't say what's really on my mind in deference to the mods who already have enough to do...

i have a 40+hour a week job but we are a one income house so we had to pay the fed alsmost nothing with all the kids that was to the fed any way , the state isn't so nice and my local property taxes are a real kick in the pants
so the fed figure for what i make i give so much to the state , and local and to feed the kids they would just leave me be.
i love my decutions (children) but i really love them at tax time. the fed gave me enough of my money back that i bought a grain mill , we are getting new lanolium in the kithen the old is gotten real bad, and i even baught the kids (deductions) some shoes
this is the time of year to look over your taxes and re figure things like if you were just over the line into a higher tax bracket see if increasing your contributions to retirment savings like 401k would get you back under or often you can take more out pre tax for your 401k and see little or no change in your check.
an hour of figuring may save your 20 dollars a pay check while putting 50 more into retirment savings

I'm getting back around 4 k. 3500 for bills and debts, and 500 for prepping.

Uncle Sugar probably already has my money. The sad part is that I made the most I ever made in my life and I have no idea where it went!

I actually get a couple hundred back this year instead of paying in a little.
Of course, I made about $15,000 less this year too.

Because this is what happens when people are willing to trade their freedom for government services and programs and vote in people who promise to provide such.

We got good news & bad news. The bad news was a notice yesterday from the IRS saying there was an error in our 2008 return - we now owe over $300. (We had filed late not knowing we had to pay self-employment tax.) The good news - if I haven't made another error - is we'll get nearly $300 back for 2009.
I suppose now I'll have to file for 2001 - 2007.

Our taxes got done last month. We pay quarterly estimated taxes so I have even more chances to dread "tax time".

The last money that I sent to the FEDS was wasted. It seems senseless to send any more.

Everybody naturally focuses on taxes during April as it is 'tax time', yet those property taxes can cause a big hurt. Almost $1000 of our annual property taxes goes to the public school district, who now are lobbying for more money because they believe the current 10 year old buildings need replaced with newer more modern stuff.

I'm glad to see you get it.
