2000/2250 watt generator...what can I run .....

The generator is about 15-20 years old and is well maintained. It was given to me by my dad. It has only about 10 hours on it. However, my two main appliances I would need to run would be my fridge and deep freeze. It is a new fridge that is frost free with an auto icemaker and water dispenser in front. My deep freeze is half size. My concern is peak wattage on the fridge. Will the generator cut it for both. Again it is 2000 continuous watts while being 2250 surge.

thanks...

I can't answer your question directly, but a great little device you should think about is a "Kill-A-Watt". You can plug any appliance into it and it will tell you how much juice the appliance is using.

Should give you an idea as to whether the generator can support it and if so, for how long.

A 2000watt generator should run a fridge & small freezer okay. During an outage you will only need to run the generator occasionally to cool them back down. Once every 2 hours should suffice.

If you can run both those appliance off the same circuit breaker, you should be able to run them with the generator since it should handle about 15-20 amps. If you're planning on running both on the generator at the same time, plug one in at a time and let the compressor cycle before plugging in the other.

Run only one unit at a time.
Start up surge currant for those units will be up close to max for that genny.
Typical defrost currant for that frost free is 500 watts. . . .not good.
