Value of a slate stone sink ?

I have this huge sink in my basement, possibly made of slate that I was going to give away on Craigslist. I got an e mail from someone though who told me if it is slate, it could be worth something. Anyone know if this is true ?

I'd post some pics, but apparently i can't.

I don't know if it's worth money or not but if you decide to give it away give me a shout. I'll come pick it up. It sounds pretty cool and I'd give it a good home in my cabin.

I think it's worth four arms and three legs.

Whoa. No wonder I got so many hits on the Free section of Craigslist. There has been no restoration, it's always been there in my basement !

I was looking at a new one for the kitchen in my house. They start at about a grand and go up from there. That is for a standard size kitchen sink. Not sure if bigger would make it worth more or less (ie - would a giant one be less in demand and therefore worth less?). Either way it is probably worth significantly more than free.

For anyone looking for one new, check out these:

Very pricey, but very nice. Now back to throwing my pennies in the jar....

Try to sell it on here somewhere. A sink like that would be great for someone that canns. We use big pots and all that garden produce.

Growing up near the PA 'Slate Belt' I know that a lot of old slate has gone to the dumps...I remember seeing alot of them in area homes...

I remember the old neighborhood elementary schools [all gone now] in my hometown had slate pannels w/ wood doors for the toilet stalls...

It is dark & heavy but it wears really well! You should be able to sell it for a nice price.
