Photos from Chicken and Egg Festival, Moulton AL

I thought I'd share some photos I took today... this was a lot like an old fashioned fair - it had HT type crafts and some animals, and some tractors.

Here is a chicken (I don't know what kind, but someone here will) that was on the outside of a Chicken tent. It was full of small cages of chickens. I did not go through it as it was crowded (and I was with my 79 year old Uncle).

You know how I like cabins! Well, take a look at this cabin - it's a bird house.

Here's a booth with quilts, this photo just shows 1/2 of the booth and selection

I really like this style of birdhouse - it's a different vendor

here is something I've not seen before - a mobile blacksmith... the guy behind is cranking something to give air to the coals for the fire. He was making a knife blade here.

This llama is very nice - there were two of them, they were all fluffed out, and the owners had fleece/roving on a table and then some yarn from these llama's. I got her card for later.

And for all those bull riders - this fellow is about 1600 lbs and the fellows with him said no one stayed on as long as 5 seconds last night. His coloring is really strange to me.

I think that's enough to give you an idea of the Homesteading Today flavor of this nice Festival.
There were sections of rides for children, and food - and canned jellys and jams and chow/chow's for sell. Etc.

It was nice. I'm glad we were there before Church let out and it got really crowded.

Looks like a great way to spend the day. It seems a lot like the annual Mississippi Pecan Festival in Richton,MS. We go every year and really enjoy it. It is probably larger but seems similar.

What FUN! That looks so summery and festive. A corndog or pulled pork sandwich from a lunch stand, glass of tea. My goodness. Thanks for sharing

AngieM2,

You should have seen the size of the Sussex chickens they had inside the tent on Saturday. And of course they had Kenny Brown and Wet Willie playing on Friday night for the unreasonable admission charge of 3 dollars to get in the festival.

Oh Angie, you were mighty close to where I grew up just on the other side of the forest. I've always liked Moulton...nice little town. Looks like a nice fair too!
