Building a Barn (or at least trying)

One of the things I love about these boards are when others share pictures of their project and endeavors.

Last year, I started to build a 36'x 40' barn/storage building for my stuff and maybe a few goats. I began trying to use trees cleared from my property as the lumber. We quickly realized it would take more then I had available, so its a mix of rough-sawn and bought lumber.

I tend to be a bit lax about photographing projects. I also tend to regret not having before and after pictures. I thought it would be a motivation for, if I started to blog about it. If any one Is interested, please take a look at www(DOT)40acresandanipod(DOT)wordpress(DOT)com and tell me what you think. If its deemed worthwhile by the group, I can post the pictures here as I proceed.

I tend to just lurk in these pages (shy I guess), but I want to thank everyone who posts and comments here. I read the new posts every day when I get home from work. Its a nice break.

The pictures are good and the barn is impressive. You don't have any trouble keeping busy do you?

Loved the "dog tired" couch potato.

Good luck with the 40 acres ...

Update

hi, I posted a few month back concerning my barn building attempt. I have updated the blog http://www.40acresandanipod.wordpress.com. As promised, I said i would post some pictures here as we moved forward. I finally got the nerve to separate the cash from my wallet for the purchase of metal roofing. This past weekend I was able to install the 1/3 that covers the area functioning as a coop for my current laying flock. below is a picture.

D.P., Not only is your barn BEAUTIFUL, but it is going to be so USEFUL to you! you put a lot of thought into this! Thanks for sharing the photos and process. i think it's neat that you used trees from your place, as well as other lumber. Your barn is bigger and better built than my house! Congrats! ldc
