Rechroming, or re-tinning etc.

Does anyone know of places that rechrome, retin, reporcelain whatever. I have a cream separator and I want the supply can to be sanitary again. Is it possible for me to do it myself? Maybe enamel coatings? I think it is heavy-duty aluminum, but really I have no clue. Any suggestions?

I have seen advertisements for those companies that do re-tinning. Might as well buy new. I tend to remember an ad from a few years back and the cost then was over $300.

How about speaking with someone knowledgeable about powder coating to see if it would work? I think the beaters for Kitchen-aid are powder coated and they seem to wear very well. May be wrong about the coating.

The old archives provided the answer see this thread:
http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-an...?msg_id=002tvA Not nearly as costly as I had remembered.

Enjoy the cream separator archives in full. http://foxyurl.com/R2D

I looked into chroming some parts once, and like windy said you might as well buy new. In my case it would cost almost twice as much, and that was if I did the sandblasting to get it to bare metal.

Buying new is out of the question - this thing is 80 years old. I just want it to look better.
