Window insulation kits...removing the sticky stuff?

Okay, usually, I can get just about anything accopmplished. However, the double sided tape for Frost King window kits has me sitting in a mud puddle mumbling to myself. Razor blade will scuff the paint from the window frame. Goof Off and Goo Gone simply shrug their shoulders and give up. Short of an orbital sander, I've come up dry. Any suggestions?
(I've tried Zylene and gas, on an old frame outside with somewhat better results, but don't want to use that indoors. For next year I am making re-usable insulation kits. I just can't deal with the sticky, fingerprint riddled, cat hair attracting 1/2 inch strip of goo on the windows...)
Any suggestions appreciated that don't stink up the house or tear up the window frames.
Matt

Try denatured alcohol. Dampen a cloth and hold it on the sticky for a few or cig lighter. I have used both to remove the leftovers of all kinds of tape. Sam

If you can find an end of the plastic tape, get under it. Then, it will peel off if you work carefully.

It may take the paint with it.

one person mentioned a cigaret lighter. I have used a propane torch to take glued on manufacturer stickers off saw blades. the heat cleanly releases the glue.

now in the case of glass windows, near wooden casements... I dont know if its such a good idea, but heat works WONDERFULL to cleanly get stickers off stuff

Would a hair dryer add enough heat to soften the stuff and release it?
