Question Best paint question

We have a new shed and want to paint the inside with a deck paint or exterior paint. DW wants a color that will deter bugs. I doubt there is one bugs don't like.

DW said, "Go on HT and ask the people there that have sheds and barns and ask if there is a paint that bugs don't like (or like less) "? So here I am to ask, "Is there such a paint"?

Thanks................

Don't know if'n it will "deter" bugs but the color black or a dark brown will sure make'm hard to see... :smiley-laughing013:
In turn, white makes it easier to see - everything.

I would leave the interior the woodtone color of whatever material you used to side/sheath the shed with. Every few years spray the interior with a solution of diazinon and you will have no bug problems.

you can get a insecticide added to the paint, bug juice is one.

wont last forever but in a shed I think it will have a longer life as it is intended for exterior use. when you notice its no longer effective you can follow CF's suggestion of spraying.

as far as color goes I would probably go with a light to medium gray.

Michael,

I think I will line the walls with mirrors and the bugs will fly into them thinking they found company in the reflection and fly to their friends or enemies.

You have the kind of humor I have. LOL NJ Rich

Thanks Cabin Fever. I knew I would find some good info here.

Give WIHH a break for a few days. She sounds tired from all the work you have her doing.

Downhome, I didn't know there was such a thing to add to paint.

Are there any other ideas floating around out there?

Thank you all, NJ Rich

Actually, if you look at old porches all the ceilings were painted a light blue. Supposedly the wasps see the blue and think it is the sky and wont build a nest. I have had skyblue porch ceilings before but don't recall if there were less wasps' nests or not.

theres lots of paint additives another that comes to mind is mildicide.

if you decide to go that way, have them add it in at the paint store and shake it at least five minutes. any good paint store will do that for you. I know cause I have added lots over the years. I never liked the mildicide though but I try to avoid any poison if I can.

We've had bug spray added by the paint store to the stain we used on our house. We've also added diazinon ourself when staining outside wood. As someone mentioned, you need to make sure it's mixed good.
