Dr. Bronner's Question

Okay..don't laugh, but, how do you use the Dr. Bronner's soap? I mean, it's covered in writing but I don't feel very clear on the directions.

I see you out there laughing!

Seriously, I'm embarrassed, but so many people have really talked it up that I'm giving it a shot. I see that it is concentrated but what is the dilution for regular bathing? Dilution for laundry? Dilution for all the various uses.

And how does everyone keep their diluted stuff? In a mason jar or extra bottle or a 2 gallon bucket. LOL.

Thanks for any info. I got the Lavender one. Fair trade, organic, jojoba and hemp oils...gotta love all that!

You mean you don't want to read the entire label with all that small print?

I love the peppermint.

I love the peppermint in the summer time.
I do not care how hot it is outside, shower with the peppermint and you will shiver.
Great after a day in the garden.
I like to mop with the eucalyptus one too.
I dilute as needed.

But now I am in love with Mrs. Meyers.. her basil general cleaner makes the house smell so fresh and clean!

When you say dilute as needed...what is that?

Is it one squirt per gallon for body wash or is it one squirt per tiny bottle of water. HUGE difference.

On the label it gives all this hoopla about 2 oz in a gallon for massages and facials and all sorts of stuff. Who knows what that means? I just want to wash my body! LOL

Just put a couple of drops on the washcloth. If you use too much, it is hard to rinse off is all.

Experiment a little.

LOL..okay. I'll be risky and experiment. BUT, if I wind up going to work tomorrow covered by a shiny sheen of Dr. Bronner's I'll be REALLY embarrassed.

I use the tea tree in the shower. You really only need about 5 drops in a loofa and it will suds like crazy. I don't intentionally dilute and use it on my hair and beard about once a week. I've never had trouble rinsing off.

I use a few drops of the peppermint, ~3/4 cup of white vinegar, and a 1/4 tsp of borax in a spray bottle filled to the top with water for an all purpose cleaner in the kitchen and bathroom.

Use the peppermint bar soap at the sink for hand washing.

You can use the stuff for just about anything.

I just always used it like any other soap or body wash, but you realize right away that you just don't really need as much as you do with conventional body wash type products.

I've never diluted, and never had any problems with a "sheen" or anything. Only thing I've noticed is that you don't want to let some of the varieties (peppermint, tea tree, etc) linger in certain areas too long. Such as "down there" or around your eyes, or any open sores.

Dr. Bronners is the only soap I really use. All my other hygiene products are typical household items and I've had great luck. (Love my no 'poo ACV cinnamon vanilla hair rinse, especially.)

OK - that sounds good. How do you make it?

I use Dr. Bronners to wash my hair. I also use it to wash dishes when I run out of my regular stuff.

We purchase it by the gallon at a local Co-op for about 21 dollars and then divide it into smaller bars. Hubby has gotten me onto a new thing, for me that is, Soap Nuts.

I've used Dr. Bronners (peppermint) for Sons clothes when he comes back from visiting with his dad (smoker) and it cuts right through it.

I've never diluted it, but Hubby used it to brush his teeth once, read that you could and decided to try it. Notice I said once, he said he felt as if his mouth was foaming all day.

i did that once too- heard you could use the peppermint for tooth brushing. do not do it. it tastes like what it is- soap.

it's very concentrated- a few drops is all you will need. one drop on a toothbrush was too much.

i use the eucalyptus when camping. it does hand laundry as well as dishes. that way you can pour out the used water on the ground and not worry about it killing stuff.

Steep cinnamon sticks in hot water, let it cool down, and add ACV to whatever dilution you prefer. Mix in vanilla until the ACV isn't noticeable. I kept it in a raspberry smirnoff bottle in the shower for the longest because I thought it looked pretty, but a much better idea is to put it in a plastic squirt bottle and keep it in the fridge.

With the cinnamon and vanilla, it makes your hair smell more like a fruity salad dressing than a wet dog while it's still wet. Either way, just rinse well and any scent dissipates as your hair dries. Went back to this again a few months ago after using Dr. Bronners or Burt's Bees sulfate-free shampoo, and it's so much shinier and healthier.

Sorry about the hi-jack.

We use the stuff all the time. If I have something particularly funky stinky that needs to be washed (like hog pen mud covered overalls) I add a generous squirt to the wash load along with my homemade laundry soap.
For showering, I just put a SMALL squirt of the soap in my hands and lather all over once I'm already wet. I usually only have to use two squirts for my whole body. I find that the peppermint version is invigorating and helps get my blood flowing when I'm feeling sluggish.
I use a few drops in 4 cups of water as a teat wash for our milk cow. Really cuts the grime on the udder and is gentle enough that it doesn't irritate the teats. Also the baby calf doesn't mind the taste, so has no problems with nursing after morning milking.

I forgot to mention there's a great documentary about Dr. Emmanuel Bronner entitled: Dr. Bronner's Magic Soapbox. Highly recommended; he was quite a character.

I put it in a self foaming hand soap container

I have an empty "foaming" hand soap container. I fill about 1/6 of it with
Dr. B's, and the rest with water. I put this in my shower and use it like body wash. I think it cleans very well without drying out your skin too much.

It's very good for you if you drink it.
BTW I love Dr.B's, and it works too!
