Wink Making garden obelisks.(Our first video spotlight)

Just thought I would share with all of those who may be interested. I have begun a series of video segments on my blog, spotlighting the Real people & Artisans in the world of Homesteading.
Our first video posted is with Rick Pratt of Around the bend willow furnishings. They began homesteading back in the 70's and Rick stopped working his full time job of a previous voaction to make willow furniture full time. He and his wife are 2 of America's leading traditional contemporary twig furnishing makers.
In this video he shows how easy it is to make a simple willow Obelisk. This video is part 1 of 2. In the second part, he shows us a more structural firm obelisk which can be used with other kinds of woods. I will be posting that one in about 1 more week.
Being that the garden season is just around the corner here, I thought I would share this video with all of you. Giving a project to work on until we can start playing in dirt. I am very new to the video making world, so yes..I am an amatuer. With each one I grow and lessons learned are put into the next for a better outcome.

If you like it, please be sure to rate it over on youtube, which I have supplied the link below the video.
Thanks guys. Hope you enjoy (and try your hand at making a few for your gardens).

What a great video! And gave me an idea what to do with the tons of grape vine cuttings I have. Hmmm.....now to see if it that will work.

I played around with making one from limbs which had fallen over the winter. Used small apple tree suckers (about 3 ft long) which worked well. We have a old/falling apple tree which has them growing all over the huge main trunk.
I had found Hops vines from last year while I cleaned up the garden. They were dried but I dropped them in the goldfish pond to soak for about 1/2 hour. They worked fantastic! I also used some as a way to cover up the wire/twine I used to hold the legs at the top. Looked really good.
Please do share your outcome. Would love to see it!

Thank you. I do not understand why the video would not play. I did list the link which will take you directly to the it's place on youtube. Sometimes depending on programs, it will play in place for some where it will not for others. I hope you have a chance to try it again.
I just got back from a walk in the woods- where loggers are doing some work. I was able to get some birch for a few and a bunch of grapevines to rehydrate. Eyeing these for the pole beans.
Great idea from Karen in NE Indianna
