Driveway Ruts

Propane truck got stuck in the drive this winter and I have huge ruts...any idea on best way to repair. I tried to flatten it out with my 7,000 LB tractor, but the ruts are as wide a the tires. Shovled it back in, road over it, squirted back out

Fill them with gravel or better yet; crushed rock.

"squirted back out" indicates that it is still wet. Add dry material a little at a time in order to soak up the excess moisture. Eventually you can completely fill them and smooth them.

It sounds like your road needs to be reworked with a heavier layer of base material or geotextile material before the other is placed over the top of it. Raise the road some so that ditches or lower areas can hold runoff.

Around here there is recycling of concrete. Large demolition projects and the ready mix people hire a crew that has a portable rock crusher to break up the concrete and it is sold. I find for driveway use it is superior to the crushed stone from the quarry and it is cheaper.

We have what is called a scraper that we pull behind the tractor to level things out. Maybe you could look for one of those. Our yard wins first place for being the worst in this area. The yards of gravel we put down last year seem to have disappeared and we have a wet, muddy mess. It is going to freeze tomorrow and we will most likely get whiplash when we have to drive across the yard. We can't use the scraper yet as the tractor is still put away for winter but when we can get it out of storage it will flatten out this mess.
