Looking for Pasteur Beef, etc near Danville, VA

I would like to switch over to "clean" meat and eggs. The 3 places I found relatively close by seem very expensive. Steaks - $15/lb and up. Chickens - $3.75/lb. Boneless Chicken Breasts - $9.95/lb. Eggs $3.50/doz. Bacon $$$$$

Does anyone live nearby and have a good source? I don't mind driving 20-30 miles if I can get a better price. I don't have a freezer chest so I am limited in how much I can buy or I would get a 1/2 side ($5.25/lb)

Check with Dahnmar farms in Blanch(near Yanceyville) http://www.ncgrassfedbeef.com/
and Baldwin Farms just a few miles below Yanceyville
Both sell beef.

Thanks. I knew about Baldwin but not Dahnmar. I think I might need to invest in a freezer.

Hello,
I live on a small homestead just outside Danville. We grow our own meat and vegetables. Often we have enough to share and certainly could use the extra income.

We do "not" raise cow or pigs. We raise goats (Nubians) for their meat and milk. If you aren't familiar with goat meat, you might want to give it a try. It is similar to deer meat in flavor, yet without any wild taste. (Goats and deers are related species.) We are not set up to sell milk; but we could sell some of the meat .. provided we have enough for ourselves left over for the year. (We have some in our deep freeze now if you would like to try it and six more goats that we will be processing for the freezer this fall.)

We also have plenty of eggs (when the snakes don't get them). In early spring our geese lay large eggs every day and, since there are only two of us in this family, we rarely use them all. (All our fowl free range; so they certainly taste better than any store-bought eggs.)

We are located about 30 miles north of Danville; so if you're interested, just post here and let me know. I can then give you more personal details as to how to contact us.

Just a side note: We keep our goats healthy and do not inject them with anything to make them heavier in meat production.

Could you PM me the contact info? Could you also give me a price estimate? I know it can vary. Right now I have limited freezer space and want to get beef first. If I buy a freezer chest, I will have enough room to buy goat too. If I do buy some goat from you, I would love to try the geese eggs to.

Thanks
