Question Land Rip-offs???

From time to time, I've read about land seizures for eminent domain or "for the higher good," such as building or widening a road or freeway. However, here is a scarey tale I just blocked and copied to post here for your comments such as has your land or neighboring land ever been seized and sold at profit to others and damage to you?

Did you know that 43 out of 50 states have been selling OUR public land.- State land has been disappearing at an alarming rate.- -Awhile back - a few years ago - a state on the coast claimed eminent domain on some beach front property (saying they were going to build retaining walls, etc., to help protect the homes that were further back), and, instead, sold that property to a very large firm, who built custom, high priced condos on the property, not only not building retaining walls, etc., but blocking off the beach to 100's of previous home owners - and the states do not even own the beaches, but by owning the property in front of it, they blocked off the private streets where you had access to the beach.-

The move to NY friend. Here the State has been buying land and moving into "Forever Wild" status for years. That means nothing heavier than a human footprint will ever touch that land, no wood will be cut or removed, no camp will ever be built, NOTHING will ever be dome on that land ever again.

It's worse than eminent domain- they buy the land with tax payer dollars and then tax the taxpayers more so they can pay the taxes on that land. Makes sense, eh?

We need to be aware that the White House is currenty trying to obtain millions of acres of western land - Not that the states and fed's don't already own most of the west. This is a lot more than just a conservation effort.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/...use-land-grab/

Here's a site that shows fed & state owned lands - look up your state. A real eye opener.

http://www.nationalatlas.gov/printable/fedlands.html

As far as eminent domain is concerned, I wish someone would take it (in the form of a law suit) to the Supreme Court as the way it's being used, I believe, is unconstitutional.

That's been going on for a long time. The government owns a lot more land today than it did in the 50s & 60s.

And THE ONLY reason the government wants to buy that much "extra" land, is because it contains a huge amount of oil reserves~!
And that way it can Stop Any company from drilling for our OWN OIL~!
We should be doing more oil drilling more oil wells from our OWN oil on our OWN land.
And tell the middle "stick it"
But nope the government does not want that to happen.
So buying up all this oil rich land is one way to stop more domestic drilling for oil. What nut cases they are in Washington.
we should be weaning ourselves from foreign oil years ago. But nope. Won't happen.
And i don't want people coming on here and saying OH put up many more "wind farms~!!!
T Boone Picket even Stopped putting up wind farms it just is not a viable way of getting electricity. There is not enough "transmission lines available so he quit.
So he T Boone Picket doesn't think it is the right thing to do with his billions, nobody should be doing it at this point in time.
We need to drill for our own oil. Now~!

How in the would did OI just KNOW you would be the first to post? LOL
Well I stand by my first statement as the reason why the Government is buying up all that extra land. As that is a fact. The rest of the post IMO.

A lot of BLM & USFS land is rich in resources, but the vast majority is not. In fact a whopping 84.5% of the state of Nevada is owned by the federal government, and very little of that land has exploitable resources.

The government has had a change in attitude but it's not clear why. It's possible that they are finally recognizing that land in the western states is finite. I really don't know why they want it, but it's obvious that they do.

What's even more concerning to me is that more and more national forest land is being placed off limits to visitors for no apparent reason. It's one thing for the government to own land for our mutual enjoyment, but another for them to own it just too keep us off.

As no one has mentioned I would suggest checking out Agenda 21.

Although it is probably the furthest thing from anyones minds.... under international law when a nation is defeated the conqueror gets the public records, the public buildings and the public lands. It is natural to desire to keep the public records small, the public buildings antiquated and the public lands non-existent. Otherwise there is a motivation for another nation to come in and defeat you.

Keep the booty small and the price to obtain it high.

So...... start writing and fighting. The states can reverse this on their level. Michigan's Supreme Court ruled against Eminent Domain abuse.

[11-6-09] Democrats Bury ‘Community Transformation’ Plans in Health Care Bill: "In the bill, the Affordable Health Choices Act, community transformation plans would be carried out using federal money and be overseen by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The CDC would distribute the money as well as coordinate the various state, local, and 'community' entities responsible for carrying out the plans.
"...both state and local governments are eligible for the grants, as are 'national networks of community-based organizations'.... The transformation plans must include 'activities' for all ages, beginning in public schools, which focus on eating healthy food, adequate amounts of physical activity....'Every time our friends on the other side start talking about community organizations, we usually think ACORN..."
Scary at the very least.

Yes just like States are getting bills passed so that that "health Care" debacle is not going to be in their States. They want to have a Choice and Say so in the matter of health care for their own people. And many "law suits" are going to be filed IF and when this Health Care thingy does get passed.

In most cases the Federal Government has done an abysmal job managing forests and range land and their handling of water rights isnt much better. They are in a land grab to lock up land from being used for range, development of resources and increasingly water.

The influence of extreme environmentalists cannot be discounted and they permeate the ranks of the US Forest Service and BLM.

Hard to 'obtain' something they already own.

And, if you know me at all, you know that I don't have any faith in the current occupant of the White House.

However, the Antiquities Act has been around for over a hundred years. It was signed into law by a Republican Conservationist, that was shocked that public lands were being privatized and destroyed forever.

I haven't done complete research, but I do believe quite a few presidents, on both sides, have set aside monuments, to protect them from destruction.

I'm aware of the current "land grabs"... the locals are protesting the lost oil and gas production on some of those sites. I say hooray!!! About bloody time. I make 95% of my living off oil and gas, professionally as a landman, and as a mineral owner. I vehemently dislike drilling on public lands... just as I disliked logging on public lands... because it lower's the price of my privately owned and developed oil, gas, and timber. With so much drilling out west, on public lands, the price of gas has plummeted. Now, that might be great for consumers, but consumers don't produce anything, producers do. With so much gas on the market, it's destimulated interest in new drilling. My mineral income is 30% of what it was a few years ago.

Some places should be off limits. Someone wants to destroy their private property, fine and dandy... but keep their hands off of public land.

This might be the ONLY thing the fallen messiah might get done that I could agree with.

OP... look up the SCOTUS Kelo Case.

Be glad you weren't a member of the Osage Nation. The government made them get a reservation only to find out that their lands had lots of oil. Guess what happened? Some of them were married to white people and those so-called relatives swindled them out of it and in some cases, murdered them and made up reasons for killing them. Eventually the government had it stopped and I believe it was perhaps the first time the FBI was used in that capacity..I could be wrong, then the government made it so that ONLY the descendants could inherit the land/oil rights and not be able to have whites buy it or steal it from them. I'll have to find the links related to it.

I've never seen where state or federal government has bought land and then prevented the public from accessing it unless it's a military facility or something like that. I'm glad to see land remain in public ownership. That's one thing that sets the US apart from most of the world. Regular citizens can access large areas of relatively undisturbed land.

Our state buys land is set to buy more but nearly all of it is kept in working forest status. That means it's open for hunting, hiking and is managed for tree production. I'm glad to see my taxes spent on something useful.

The only way will are going to get out of the mess we are now and get people back to work, is get at Our Oil. Help the Economy Right ow not what is in the future.
And oil now at 80+ a barrel is high enough to make the small guy a living.
Not when it was at 20 or less. But we Can't Stand another spike to 130+ a barrel~! And one way to help that from happening is Drill Our Own Oil.
I like what Newt is saying. "Drill Here, Drill Now, And Lower Prices", well 2 years ago it would have lowed prices, but now it will keep it more stable, making it easier on the trucking industry which Moves This Country.,! From food to everything you buy is Brought to you By Truck. And to keep them rolling and the price of goods in line we must have a stable oil market and price.
We are a oil dependent country and in no way can we "Just Switch Over" at the will of somebody.
And to keep our economy up and running we must have our own oil into the mix.
Even T Boone Picket has quit building his wind farm~!1 Why? Because it is not a viable solution at this point int time.
