What's the weather in southern KY right now?

My wife wants to know. We're trying to decide between southern KY and southern MO. It seems you can have more late killing frosts in MO, but I'm not sure. Anyway, just wanted to hear from people living there what the weather is doing and how close you are to planting your garden.

One of the easiest ways to check the current weather anywhere is to use Wunderground weather service. It is so easy to use I even use it to locate obscure cities within states but bring them up on radar to see where they are in relationship to large cities.

http://www.wunderground.com

The site also shows what the normal temps are, high, lows. records for the date, sunrise, sunset, and you can use the files to check prior dates as well.

A very good site in my opinion. I believe they basically use the National Weather Service forecast but tweak it some.

It was 21 when I loaded the stove at 6:00 AM this morning. Headed to mid fifties finally today. But, this has been the coldest winter in 30 years according to all TV stations. We'll break 60 tomorrow with lows in the mid forties basically from now on. Normally we've been in the 50's routinely since late February but not this year.

That sounds like the kind of weather we're looking for. I know I can look data up on various web sites (and I do - for hours at a time), but we just want to hear first hand from someone who lives there.

Thanks!

We are seriously considering MO also, but came to the same conclusion. Better soil (generally) in southern KY and not quite as cold in the winter, if the hardiness charts are accurate. I think I could live in either place, but I'm leaning toward KY.

I plowed my house garden, my corn patch and gardens for 2 neighbors today. The ground worked beautifully. Currently it's 58 outside after a low of 41 this morning. We're going into the March wet weather now with rain forcast the remainder of the week, then late March/early April I'll begin to garden in earnest. BTW, I'm in (Near) Bowling Green, if you have any questions, please feel free to PM me.

Well........the weather

today was outstanding and were just outside of Bardstown, KY. Oh if only we could start planting but not yet.

Now, here's another take on KY........they have state tax, and I'd see who has more tornadoes..........just thought I'd mention such stuff.

Blessings

Who cares about the weather?!!!!

MO has 5 TIMES the amount of ticks of KY.

If you like ticks, Mo is your state.

I can't figure why MO would have so much more ticks than KY. Southern KY and MO are on the same lattitude and have similar climates, with MO being a bit colder in the winter.

That said, I don't know a whole lot about ticks.

We have state tax here that's brutal. We don't have tornadoes here, but the research I've done tells me that the south central to south eastern KY area is very low risk.

It's 72F here right now! Windows are open, beautiful!!!!! Our garden isn't plowed yet. It is pretty wet here in the winter. We had more snow this year than they've seen in 15 winters here. It looks like spring has finally come. Most people here plant their peas, lettuce, onions, potatoes etc. in Feb. to March here. The soil in our area is thin. We have mountains and valleys, south eastern ky area. We are near Hazard. Our place is for sale if you are interested go to the real estate forum, look for Land for Sale Kentucky. Hope this helps!
