Yeah, he better get if off....pronto! Not a real great idea having an almost flat roof in snow country.

Wow, that doesn't even look like much snow either. Scary stuff!

I have a machine shed here in MN, about 30x45, that I have had to shovel 3-4 times in my life. This winter was one of those times. East wind will dump snow on the big shallow side of the roof, and we had a lot of east storms early this year.

No fun, and have to be careful, but it needs to be done.

Best of luck with it, work just keeps on out in the country doesn't it?

If I read it right, part of your roof settled, or caved in, and so now it is holding snow load and putting additional strain on the rest of your whole building? Probably wasn't originally that low of a roof?

MmmHmm. Been interesting here watching the roofs collapse around here. Many folk figured that since they made it through the first day of heavy snow, they were fine. Didn't grasp that a standing load fatigues things. Others didn't grasp that rain soaks into snow, making it really heavy.

So here we are a few weeks after the big snow storm and the collapse rate has really sky rocketed.

In the past I've always been the one on the roof if the snow's gotten too deep or ice has formed.

This year I wasn't able to due to health reasons. DH decided he'd better get up there when we started having leaks inside (SIGH). He found 12 inch thick ice up on the north side and was having to use a pick axe to break it away. Of course, I worry about any damage that may have occured to the shingles.

It's been one of the hardest winters we've faced this year.
