Wow - that's a lot of snow!! Well, at least you'll have lots of stories to tell about this, huh? How are all of your birds and animals taking this snow?? I really do feel sorry for all of you folks in NY. I don't think we've ever had that kind of snow here in MN (or at least not in my lifetime). I hope you don't have flooding when this all melts! I bet your "mud season" is gonna be a whopper!

Hi Stef, Hang in there kiddo! Being a long time HT'er, I am hoping you and everone else effected by this storm stocked up with all the necessities of life for your family and animals, right? It looks like you will be home for a while.

Steff - where are you? We're near Lake George and got 11" of heavy wet snow on Wed and just rain since then.

Don't miss the snow here, we've had are share the last couple years. I too am waiting on spring its been a long winter.

Suggestion for you though....As soon as I could I would get as much of the snow off any roofs that you got. It looks nice but weighs a lot and ice dams can damage roofs.

Have fun..... :-)

Thanks for reminding me why I left the north. Winter sucks here, but not that bad.

I think it's time to shovel off a few roofs before buildings collapse....

Just what you wanted to hear!

that`s pretty Stef...but I can sure undestand you being sick of it.Here in east tenn it`s been nothing but snow, snow, snow since christmas eve.we are due more this weekend AND I just read that they are calling for a "historic storm" early next week.I am afraid we may lose power on this one.
I have two grown children that live in ny. one is in nyc, she keeps hoping for several feet.I saw that snow removal in nyc costs 1 million per inch.

Can you arrange for an emergency air lift to Florida? Do you have the phone number to Tel-a-psychiatrist?
You do have my sympathy. I only lived in one place that had that much snow- Traverse City Mi- beautiful but a killer. Had 6 weeks of spring-summer-fall before it all started again.

Oh Steff...I certainly feel your pain but it will be over, someday. That is a huge amount of snow.

I've lived just north of Traverse City for nearly 22 years, and my first winter up north was quite snowy. I found it incredibly beautiful. Last summer here was one the didn't happen. Two days in the 90's and most days 60 to 70's...terrible growing season.

Shoveling off a few roofs does not even come close. We have two apt buildings , 4 apt each, with flat roofs. Been up on them since 3am wed.
We are well stocked and have solar power so no worries there. The chickens stayed in all day but the goats, llamas, alpacas, sheep, donkeys and pigs thought it was fun. especially the baby goats.

My sister had just been trying to talk us into moving to Vermont to be closer to them. I was actually considering it. Not any more.
It will be a few more days till I get my car out.

Have not even thought of the mud. We have big mud even if we don't have this much snow. Last time we had this much snow, over the whole season, piling up . The river took the bridge out in town. The river was 12' above it's banks. And this is a little river.

LORDY! that's a lot of snow all at once. Critters do love a good snowfall, tho. jumping and running and some tunnel.

Your pictures are...well...makes it clear just how MUCH snow that is. Good for you being prepared with the solar power and such!

Good luck with it. Get prepared for the flooding (not there is a LOT one can do...but moving animals up to high ground, etc.)

Stef - I'm in VT and going through something similar. My 6 foot blueberry bushes have disappeared. We've gotten a good 48 inches of snow over the last 3 days and it's coming down like crazy right now. We're expecting another 8-12 inches today. Animals hate it. All the 'pretty' is long gone. Our post and rail fence has no visible rails and only little tops sticking out.

Oh when will it be spring?
