My Jack Russel just came in wearing musk........... Not skunk. I imagine mink are hanging out in tunnels now. He's not torn up so not a badger. Weasel?

Not real heavy, gotta get close to smell it. Dang, gotta teach him to fetch.......... LOL

Doubt it, unless he ran in one hole and the fox ran out the other. If he had gotten aholt of a fox the fox would be dead and he would be somewhat torn up too.

Badger kind of reminds me of Old Spice kind of musk. They should still be sleeping in their dens. Weasels and mink smell much sharper and are busy running around all winter.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was a weasel. If he had tangled with anything bigger he would probably have a few wounds in his ears or tongue. Not really an unpleasant scent in low doses.

My jack loves to hunt down possums. He will drag them out of stumps and hollow logs and also go down into burrows to get them. Not sure if they are musky or not.

We have a Jack Russel too, she thinks she Loves to get critters! Has gotten in a tangle with a couple racoons at different times, a skunk once when she was much younger(Thank Gosh she learned her lesson there) & tries to drag Oppossums home to while they are playing dead. She's great at killing snakes, mice, voles & rabbits too when she get's ahold of them. I don't let mine run loose at night when I let her out becuase I'm too afraid what she might come home with or what she'd look like when she came back in! They are crazy little dogs! But we Love her anyways.

Once I saw a mink swimming through a culvert so I ran to the other side and waited. When it came through I hit with a small rock and instantly I could smell it.

When I trapped I skinned quite a few "weasels" from short tailed weasels to badger to skunk to marten and fisher to otter. Each one had it's own scent but they were all strong.
