Does anyone have a mr heater

If you have one does it have a pilot light or burn all the time. This is one of the 9,000btu heaters. Thanks in advance. Sam

Don't know if it's the same thing, but, my Mr.Heater is directly screwed on a propane bottle (bar-b-q size). The heater is about 8 inches in diameter. It has a low-high-off valve. There is no pilot light. If I light it, it is on till I shut it off.

Yep..the one I have has what looks like a pilot light but it's simply an electronic ignition...have to prime it and then it lights up...is on til I shut it off.
This is certainly the time to get them too as they are usually on sale somewhere...we paid $70 for a pair of them late winter early spring a couple of years ago.

Can a Mr.Heater be used indoors, such as a basement?

We have one of those Mr Heater "Big Buddy" heaters going right now, in the living room. During the day, when its just the two of us here, it keeps the main floor comfortable without having the whole house furnace (propane) from kicking in.

The Big Buddy is the one that uses 2 of the one pound cylinders....or, like we are doing, you can get adapter & hose to hook up a 20lb cylinder.

Sure. Just allow 50 cubic feet of volume for each 1000 btu/hour of heating capacity, and be sure to use a CO alarm.

I turn it all the way off when I'm warm enough. The pilot is really easy to light it again, since it has it's own igniter, so I don't see the point in leaving it burning.

Thanks guys. I knew someone would have an answer here. I am looking to add one in our kitchen area so if we have to be away and if the power is off. I really need one with a pilot so will have to look at the reg propane heaters in the 10,000 range. We have a 20,000 in the heater room where the wood/coal heater is. We only use it when away or as back up at night. I had it figured that the price was about even as either one will have to have an outside tank. Thanks again. Sam

Space Cadet, do you keep the 20 pound tank outside and run the hose through a window? I have the same heater and adapter hose, recently purchased for emergency heat, but haven't used it yet. It looks like you are not supposed to have the bigger tanks in the house, so I'd like to hear how you are setting yours up. Thanks!
