Oh goodness NOT a happy camper.

I've learned to at least TRY to stiffle my laughter...doesn't always work tho. Like the time we were baling with an OLD baler, and the er, flywheel thing on the front of the baler kept rotating (fast) when we stopped on a hill...now...we'd had a REALLY long day of breakdowns and such. It was getting dark.... I looked at Artificer and said "is it SUPPOSED to do that?" (knowing full well it wasn't). As if on cue, the flywheel dropped off the baler and rolled down the hill. He was just standing there, STARING at it as it went merrily rolling off.

I tried...I really tried not to laugh..but I broke out into LOUD guffaws (and I'm sitting here chuckling just thinking about it). could NOT stop laughing. He's standing there just GLARING at me. I had tears rolling down my face.

anyway...I hope you got it thawed out and said a small prayer of thanks that you were on the road! (or close to it, anyway)

Wisconsin Ann, oh that is funny! I would have laughed too.

Live and learn. Just when you think you can handle it all, life throws you a curve ball.

if you live in an area with that much snow , you should maybe buy a snow mobile and always prop them up so the track doesn't freeze to the ground

, you could build a tent over it with plasic sheeting and let it run inside with a exaust pipe outside the plastic tent to thaw it out , could even add a propain heater to that mix to help thaw it out

Ann,

It's been over a year since you were here. I'm brain damaged and can't remember much but I remember you and Mike. I don't need a vdeo to picture the scene you described.

HAHAHAHA

Best

ehhe. We've certainly had our share of "odd and unusual moments". And we've both learned to just laugh it off. Doesn't do any good to freak out. YELL for a moment, yes...but...

Like the time Artificer was driving his truck on a 4lane highway, in winter, and around a curve and his little truck simply stopped steering on the ice. As he left the road he thought "...."er, I can't print it here . Then, as the truck started down the steep hill, and began to go over he thought "well that's just great. NOW we're going to roll". and he did. Ended upside down in the snow, hanging from his seatbelt, upside down. Couldn't get the seatbelt undone 'cuz he was putting pressure on it from hanging in it. Motor still running on the truck, he's thinking (or so he claims) "wonder how long it takes for your innards to crush your lungs when you're upside down...."..and then reached his knife and cut the thing.

Or the time I had navigated us onto a County road in Colorado ("It's a county road. how bad could it be?") As I stood outside the van and trailer, guiding Artificer so he wouldn't run off the side of the road down the side of the mountain as he tried to get thru the axle deep water on the frozen dirt road he suddenly found enough traction to go forward more than an inch at a time..and took off. He kept going. Up and over the hill. I stood there watching him go and just waved g'bye. (I figured he would see that I wasn't in the van eventually...). So I started walking up the road, hoping to find some house or building to get out of the freezing temps and sleet. (back roads of Colorado, even if they ARE county roads, are sometimes gravel, most times dirt, and ALWAYS lonely )

Don't think she would have stopped there. She would have called the neighbors to watch.

And my new "Note to self,"

When towing the truck and trailer up the tractor road with the backhoe (because of the ice on the road) leave the truck in park. That way when the tow strap breaks, you don't find out that you can't run faster than the truck can roll backwards down the hill. You have to like trees on the side of the road, the ones that eventually stop them from rolling.

I don't know if Ann would have laughed or not at this, but at least she wasn't there. Then again... if she was there, she would have been in the truck, so it wouldn't have happened.

diane, an old saying is any problem that doesn't end in incarceration or the hospital isn't that significant.

If it is your lifeline you should have a back up to it. I have a pickup and when that goes down I have a tractor. I may look funny driving a tractor down the road but I can get out expectantly if I do some thing that causes the problem.
