Freezer Alarms?

I have two chest freezers in the garage that I'd like to put alarms on. We may or may not be able to hear some sort of audible alarm from in the house.

What I would like is a wireless system where each freezer has a transmitter in it, and a base unit that could be put on the front of our in-house refrigerator with a magnet. The refrigerator is in the kitchen which is a high traffic area and of course the refrigerator gets used multiple times per day so this would be a good location for the readout/alarm panel.

I would like the base unit to have digital readouts for each freezer as well as audible alarm for each freezer with user settable temperature trigger points.

Better yet would be a system that would also send a message to my cellphone when an over-temp situation is detected. That way when out of town I could call relatives or neighbors to check on it.

What experience do you have with freezer alarms?

Thanks

I have them on both freezers. Nothing fancy, preset to sound an alarm if temp gets above 15 degrees. Mine do not have any notification other than audible. They were quite inexpensive <$20

I bought one a few months ago when someone posted that they had lost a lot of food when their freezer defrosted. I ended up giving away several as gifts for Christmas. I probably have the same model that kbshorts has since his description fits mine. It works well but I don't have to worry about not hearing it since it is within earshot.

Maybe you need to invent one. They make a Greenhouse alarm to warn of cold temps. maybe you could re-rig it? You could be in the $$$, lots of folks here keep their freezers in the garage/pole barn.
