Lopi Endeavor, what to look for in a used one?

There is a practically brand new 2009 Lopi Endeavor for sale in my area. The owner said he only used it a few days and is looking for a larger stove for his home. What should we look for in making sure this stove is sound? Any help is much appreciated.

Not sure if this will help you or not.We bought a new Lopi Freedom bay in 2001.Since then we have replaced the blower unit 2 years ago cost 300.00 to replace, some of the fire bricks have been replaced. There is no way these stoves will heat the Sq footage they claim..plan on about 50% of what they claim.Cant really compare to other brands as this is the first insert we have had.

We have a Lopi Endeavor that I purchased new in 1997. It has worked perfectly for over 10 years....so, I really can't say what might be a problem with the almost new 2009 model you are considering. I would check that all of the firebrick are sound, that the secondary combustion tubes are in place, and that both vent rods are functioning. There is really not much that can go wrong. If you purchase the Lopi, you've made a wise choice.

I wouldn;t expect any brand of fireplace insert to heat as well as the equivalent free-standing woodstove.

with a 1 year old stove your looking for all the parts to be there like CF said also your looking for signs of clasic over fire warped air tubes and other parts

if you get some pics of one from the dealer and them compare when you look at the one your looking at used , you can down load the manuals for most of them online and take that with to make sure parts are there.

we bought our quadrafire stove used , but from the dealer /factory store so they gave us a 1 year waranty with everything i let them install it , it got my mother off my back about it and made my insurance company happy , and not going on my really steep roof made me happy.

the stove chimney and instalation was money well spent we signifigantly reduced the fule oil we use. and i have non electric depedant heat

Thank you for the advice. We were planning to buy a new Endeavor the end of this year to take advantage of the tax break, but I saw an ad for a nearly new used one for a good price. After communicating with the seller, it seems they are having second thoughts about selling. We may just wait to buy a new one unless we see a sweet deal on a used one.
