More wood floor ?s- protecting from furniture

What do all of you do? For movable bookshelves, filing cabinets, refrigerators? I got a bunch of felt stickies and plastic cups but what should I do for the filing cabinet, or the 8" x 1/2" part of bookshelf at each end which is on floor?

TIA!

Well, I'd try to move it as little as possible. Clean around it with a shop vac. You could consider putting the file cabinet on a piece of carpeting that has the pile side down.

Moving Men. Not big hunky guys, lol, but those little round slider things they used to advertise on TV. You can buy them at Walmart and places like that. They really do work and come in numerous different sizes. They're just round hard plastic disks with a rubber pad. Just place one under each corner and maybe in the middle if it's a really long piece of furniture.

I keep them permanently under my big things so I can move them to clean or rearrange. I get tired of things in the same place all the time. They slide like a dream on wood or even on carpet. I can move a huge 8 foot long entertainment center fully loaded all by myself (I have eight sliders under it). I love those things!

We put salesman sample carpets under the file cabinets. It looks nice because the samples have a finished edge and they are all the same color. We got stacks of 'em for free from a carpet place.

1- They don't scratch the floor? (so long as I keep grit from getting under them!)

2- the things don't move from nonintentional pushes- kids or dogs or me leaning on the object?

I thought I SHOULDN'T get those since I want things to stay put not to be movable, but I was sure tempted to get them.

1. Well, I haven't had any problem with them scratching the floor. They're very smooth.

2. That might be a reason to NOT get them, lol. They can be pushed pretty easily out of place, and unless it was pretty heavy, no you couldn't lean on it or it would move. Never thought of that, sorry, I live alone!

Maybe they aren't for you after all. Sorry, I don't have any other suggestions except the carpet pieces or maybe a throw rug.

Also, floors do get a little bit scratched sometimes. That is their fate and destiny.
