The new ride

I am the proud new owner of a Sears Custom 8XL. Everything looks pretty orginal to me with the exception of the steering, which looks like it was reengineered to be a bit heavier. Gave $200 for it which seemed like a pretty good deal since that seems to be what most people around here want for their sheet metal mowers...starts good, runs smooth, no smoke. The only thing I can really find wrong with it is the rear end looks like it leaks a bit, don't know how bad it is to fix, let me know if you have any ideas, otherwise I will probably just top it off from time to time. I plan on using it for regular mowing of our 1 acre yard, knocking down 2 acres of pasture when it gets ahead of the animals, and pulling a small wagon of wood/kids.

I have one of those that I was given because the engine snapped a valve rocker arm. I gave away that engine because I wanted to put in a 10 hp diesel. Havn't gotten that far yet but it's a good heavey drive train and mower.

Very nice Matthew. In my own search for a riding mower I found several channels on Youtube that had interesting video blogs about tractors like yours. Lots of technical segments and a good place for ideas etc.
