I just don't get it!

A Starbucks opened in our town not to long ago.
The parking lot is always full! Now, I believe in "live and let live" and "to each his own" and to any of you that shop there I am in no way judging.
But, I just don't get it. They charge more for one cup of coffee than I pay for a pound. LOL
Someone help me understand.

Hank

Do you want a cup of coffee or a pound of coffee grounds needing to be perked?

I can buy a pound of hamburger for what a quarter pound at McDonalds costs, but one is ready to eat right now and the other is not.

.....Alan.

That's only the beginning, wait until the bikini barista stands open up in your area like we have up here. That will take some of the pressure off of the starbucks store, but then you will have to watch out for the lineup of traffic waiting to go through the barista stand. I heard they sell coffee at these stands or something...

Ohhhh...a hot chai latte made with whole milk and a muffin.....A hot slice of Heaven on a chilly day!

(OK, so I haven't had that in months, but it is a nice place for a Mommy to escape and get lost in a magazine for a while!)

Tonya, you can have your chai latte, but please order me a Cafe Americano with an extra shot of expresso, 1 inch room for cream with 4 splendas. And wait, also get me a slice of the Lemon Glazed pound cake.

(If you don't ever go to Starbucks, you won't understand)

Daniel

You got that right!

I hate going in there just because I don't know how to order a plain coffee.

When you burn coffee at home, it stinks up the whole house.

If you want brunt coffee this time of year, it's cheaper to go the Starbucks than to reheat the house after you've opened all the windows to air it out.

What's the price for a bottle of beer at the tavern vs. a bottle from the groc. store? Isn't that the same thing? Different scenery, different chair, a few friends, etc.

It's as much about the ritual as the product.

My DH goes in and tells them "One large regular coffee, please" and they take it from there.

He doesn't even put sugar in his coffee.

I never saw the draw. They sell that star rot coffee here at the hospital, just plain nasty. bitter soapy tasting stuff. Oh yea, at $4 a cup. If I wanted a cup of burnt soap tasting coffee I'd reeval the need for coffee.
As for the beer at the tavern vs the grocery---the tavern beer tastes the same as the grocers beer. But the same thought applies to beer $6.50 for a beer at the ballpark? No way!! That's why they invented tailgating and flasks.
star bucks---about as useless as nipples on a boar hog.

Many times it becomes a meeting place...lets get together over a cup of coffee. So for 2 cups of coffee there might be 2 cars there for an hour or 2 while they sip and visit. The do still manage to do a lot of to-go business just because it is ready quickly.

i have several nieces and nephews that work there or used to work there. it's good for them, as it pays pretty well, and includes health insurance. it's helping them get thru college. so i'm glad there's people willing to pay the price, altho i'm not one of them.

I like the way the inside looks. It's an adventure to go there. You can drink your pumpkin spice latte and read the paper and people watch.

I've never been to starbucks and I'm not too big on coffee in general. However, I am guilty of getting a large mocha latte with a double shot of espresso at the coffee shop at school on a daily basis. I really should cut down, at almost $4 each, I will go broke quickly!

I know what is in coffee and that is why I don't drink it except once in while.
