Noticing When Its Cold
Little things you notice when its cold.What are the things you notice?
We went to town yesterday a Pickup in front of us was having trouble running.The first thing my wife noticed was it was Diesel,she knew what the problem was.
Went to get my Receipt from the Pump when I got Gas,it wouldn't give me one it was froze up.

No birds singing, it warmed up here to around 0 C and the birds were singing. Never really noticed how quiet winter was before.

Hot humid weather sucks, but I think cold weather sucks even more..... And this winter is one of the coldest we've had in some years. Getting snow rather than freezing rain like last few years. And alas not getting any truly mild days to break up the cold weather doldrums and offer hope like we usually do.

The tires on vehicles are as hard as a rock. For the first 5 miles it feels like you are driving on a washboard.

the old cement roads buckle every few feet so you are riding on constant bumps..
the cold wind comes right through those double pane windows
you burn more wood
the doe at the feeder is shivering..a lot..she doesn't look good...wish i could help her out more..put out some bread from freezer, apple cores, corn and sunflower seeds..(for the birds of course..we don't feed deer here)

Hey.
I notice: my eyelashes freezing together, how many stars you can count at night, the dogs do their duty and are back in less than a minute, the heater just starts working when you get to where you are going, the coyotes are quieter at dusk, and it's time for a Packer home game;-)

Sorry, snow here is frozen hard as a rock. I can lay down on top of it and not sink. No snow angels.

When it is cold I always think the fridge out in the milk house is not working. When I open it it is warmer inside than it is out.
Butter left out on the counter is rock hard in the morning.
The toilet seat is REAL cold.

I notice a lot less riff raff out and about when it's cold.
It's also a lot quieter outside.
